Love your mother’s comment on this as well as yours. Clothing is supposed to enhance the curves of a woman’s body. It’s supposed to make you look and feel your personal best at whatever size that may be. Looking at clothing on a SUPER skinny model is so BORING!!!!

My mother’s take on this (because I shared it with her) – the world of the flat and dimensionless woman is jealous because nothing looks better than a well tailored piece of clothing on a full figured, confident woman, and people never throw stones at trees devoid of fruit…

It has to also be said that this is mostly an accessories shoot – Ms Martini is likely wearing her own costumes underneath all the glitz – VMag hasn’t run the styling notes for this shoot like they have for the others, so who is to know whether they can buy any of it?

Karl is very clever at playing his little games with the media – but he is not the only person who gets to decide whether or not todress larger models in Chanel!

His comment was a stupid comment period!!!! It just shows that it is ok to show hate to a person who is full figured, You can’t say anything about a gay person, or about a person of another race( which you should not say anything negative) but it is ok to talk negative about a woman who is full figured, like were are creatures from another planet or somthing. I think the fashion business is afraid that the truth will come out, that ALL WOMEN ARE beatiful not just the sick skinny models they promote. They are afraid that they will be proven wrong, or people will begging to see that you can be beatiful at any size and won’t buy their clothes anymore. God will get him for that comment.

Yes, this editorial is amazing and Lagerfeld completely exceeded my expectations.

But he is a sneaky one. When Karl said “No one wants to see curvy women” he was talking primarily about plus size models. By using a burlesque performer, Lagerfeld has cannily avoided endorsing plus size models.

I guess we are all guilty of saying stupid things but he certainly took the cake with that insane quote. I’m glad that in some ways he had to EAT HIS OWN WORDS with this editorial. It was not professional or politically correct for him to bash women like he did. As women and more importantly plus size women continue to stand up and demand respect, better clothing and equality it won’t be so easy for people to do things like this open an publicly.

I agree with you Rebecca… but the argument I’ve had thrown back at me is that just as we have different models in our industry such as fit, commercial and fashion they have different models as well. Most models that are in men’s magazines are curvy and not a size 0 while the fashion models are bony thin and without an ounce of fat on them.

I think that the industry is begging to be changed and now even the magazines have jumped on board.

All we need is for Vogue to do this in a big way, just like V Magazine and plus size models and fashions might end up being in main stream America.

You have to admit, what a way to start a year!

There are so many things wrong with Lagerfeld’s initial statement that it would take hours (or pages) to dissect them all, but let me just say, I’m a size eight woman WITH CURVES! And are not curvy women precisely what fill men’s magazines? (So obviously someone wants to look at them).

Perhaps one of Lagerfeld’s mates got a hold of him, gave him a good shake and suggested (and this is just me being a cynic) that ultimately Lagerfeld needs to sell clothes. He’s a business after all, and alienating his customers is not the way to make money.

Well every idiot is allowed his day in conscience court! Like you I am not holding my breath for the Lagerfeld full figured collection, but it’s good to see that his world of fashion fantasy now includes one of the people that the supposed ‘fat mothers with chips sitting in front of the television’ might actually enjoy looking at.

by the way, my ‘skinny’ friends are the biggest consumers of chips and dips and moan and complain about ounces on their thighs…

Is it that some of us big beauties are just more evolved than they are???
