MTV Follow Me: Tweet Up TJ Challenge With Gabi Gregg Was A Great Success

For the past several weeks, the blogger behind Young, Fat & Fabulous,  has been in a tight competition to become MTV’s first TJ.

What is a TJ? A Twitter Jockey! Yes… this is how much Twitter has influenced our lives.

Gabi enlisted the help of 10 NY models and yours truly, to help her create a fashion show on the Brooklyn Bridge!  The models were Grisele Angel, Natalie Monet, Jeannie Ferguson, Mia Amber, Christina Mendez, Cat Peoples, Stacey & Shannon Hiett, Allison McGevna and Danielle Jackson.

I reserved a room at Ripley Grier studios for the models fitting and once the fittings were done, we took yellow cabs downtown to the Brooklyn Bridge. I took a cab with the Hiett sisters and Natalie Monet and laughed… laughed… laughed. (Thanks girls)

After we made it to our destination we chatted, took pictures and waited for the MTV crew to let us know when they were ready. People knew something was about to happen and would stare at the girls and those few bold men would stop and ask what was happening.

Once the show began, the Brooklyn Bridge was transformed from a NYC landmark to the place where even more history could be made. Gabi’s challenge was to announce a “Tweet-up” at 10am on Tuesday morning and have as many people as possible show up at the Bridge.

oh! Did I mention it was VERY windy?? :-)

I’m not sure what the final numbers were, but at last count I had about 30; which was pretty good considering she told me that if 20 showed up she would be happy.

After the fashion show was over, the audience was invited to enter a best dressed competition. The winner would win $100 American Express gift card.

The finale event happens this Sunday, August 8, 2010 LIVE from NYC at 10pm. Check your local listings for show times.

*Many thanks to TORRID for providing most of the clothing for the fashion show.

We wish Gabi much success and will be rooting for her on Sunday.
