Always an activist and looking to bring plus size women into a fashion forward mentality, in 2006 she combined forces with friend and online magazine publisher, Valery Amador, to create PLUS Model Magazine, where they could respond to plus women's demand for fashionable clothing displayed prominently on appropriately sized models. Since then, Ms. Jones has quickly become the, 'Anna Wintour' of the plus size industry where she is frequently called upon for her expertise and insight; Appearances and interviews include ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, Entertainment Tonight, Coco Perez, Fox News, HuffingtonPost.com and 200+ other media sources.
It is a equal win for August and October. However the October cover is more realistic, and compatible with other covers I have seen. They both show a curvy women, with attire one would actually wear day to day. They’re easy to relate to, the makeup and hair is achievable and could be worn by anyone. When I look at the covers I feel as though my dreams are capable, and if they can model and look gorgeous and confident, I can also. It gives me something to aspire to. I’m not going to be walking around in a swimsuit or carrying a guitar every second, nor ammo I going to be holding my hair out straight. August and Octobers covers are believable yet offer that dynamic edge that show what a lot of other magazines don’t. It’s not something you can described, its something you can only see. When its right, you just know it.
It’s a 3 way tie between January, May, and October!! January looks so elegant, but in a peek-a-boo way. May is glamorous and sexy, but in a way every woman can carry off. October sizzles with sex appeal, but in an accessible and easy way for women to emulate. I must admit April holds a place in my heart because that really is an every day woman, just doing her thing! I’ll go with May as my fave- it looks a little retro, a little sexy, a little elegant…and the look in her eyes! You can’t get away from her!
I have to say April’s Cover gets my VOTE!
# 1 It’s sooo AWESOME to FINALLY see a TRUE PLUS MODEL on the COVER!
The cover is very natural and appealing and it gives me hope that there will be other TRUE PLUS MODELS on future covers.
# 2 April is my birthday month
**Blushing**
TEAM FIERCE is indeed in the house!
I love the January cover.. of all of the covers it is the one that has stayed in my mind as I went through them. I even gave it time before I voted so i could be sure.
Yep January it is… It is the most beautiful of all of the covers offered.
April’s cover is my choice. That model is a great representation of real plus size ladies!
Definitely January! I’ve got an affinity for the retro w/modern appeal. I just feel like it was SO feminine and simple and just pretty. You wanna love her and that’s what every woman wants
I vote for the denim issue August. Denise looks amazing in those jeans. She’s showing off her fierce curves and looks great going it. I love her long flowing hair to. This is by far my favorite cover.
I love April because it shows a genuine plus size women. Not to say the other issues don’t but April is more on the curvier/heavier side and more women could relate. I also like this cover because the style is very easy to recreate. It’s a casual trendy and chic outfit that anyone can put together easily and pull inspiration from without having to spend too much money or being too over the top. I feel April’s cover is perfect for the everyday curvy girl who doesn’t want to go all out but defintely wants to add some style and glam without being so over the top.
I have to vote for August. The colors are soothing, the photo is beautiful, and the model is not only curvy but also captivating. I am afraid of heights and I wanted to be on that rooftop. Also wanted the clothes…..Great Job!
Hello.
I wanted to let you know that I look at every edition of the Plus Model Magazine. I really like all of the covers of the magazine and the women are absolutely beautiful, but the one cover that I love the most is the November 2010 issue. I really like Hilary Harper’s look and the out is fabulous. What made me more drawn to this cover is the video that was posted last month which featured the photo shoot behind the scenes with Hilary Harper. Ms. Harper brought class, pizzazz and style to her shoot. She looked like she was having fun and like she is a pleasure to work with. I think that she is “the bomb” as my kids would say. I just wanted to tell you guys how I felt. Thanks to Hilary Harper and Plus Model Magazine for the experience!!
September
All of the covers are so amazing I am really having a hard time picking my favorite. I think September and October 2010 are my top two faves. I love Fluvia so much that I think I will pick October 2010 as my choice. She just leaps off the cover and draws you in. She screams confidence to me and I love that!
I have to say January! While all the women are beautiful, I just love Chloe’s retro pin up look with a modern edgy twist on this cover.
October is my favorite. The model is gorgeous and sexy, her styling is perfect, and the bold color against the stark black and white shot really makes her pop. January and April are close runners up.
I would have to say I am tied between April and October. April for the true curvy woman, which shows how beautiful they can be. October for the layout itself it is captivating. As a photographer of real women myself I thoroughly enjoy your magazine.
I feel that the April cover is the best cover. Not only does it show the model’s beauty but it also shows that she has a musical talent.
I loved October’s cover. That looks like its the start of a Lane Bryant commercial.
I absolutely love the April and August covers. The ladies are divine and they rock the Big is Beautiful theme. If I had to pick one it would be the April Cover. She looks confident yet comfortable, classy yet calm, and she oozes self love and acceptance. In a day and age where everyone is finding it hard to accept their curvy self, this model shows how you can be full figured yet command respect and she definitely makes me want to buy what she has on. She also shows effortless beauty and shows plus size ladies how to WORK IT!
I LOVE the September issue the best, but all of them are great nonetheless.
For some reason, the fashion in the September issue stands out to me. That electric blue dress is a killer, and the accessories are perfect with it. When this issue came out, I was looking for an electric blue dress everywhere. That cover is very inspirational and not to mention, the model is flawless.
I love them all! I like the April 2010 one the best because it looks more natural and like something I’d actually wear!
I love all of the covers (and Fluvia looks exceptional) but I too think Im going to have to go with April, she is the only model that personifies complete plus size for me, she has a beautiful face, flawless skin, fabulous hair, gracious curves AND thighs like mine ! (~_~)
Smooches
august rocks wih he lovely lady lump
October is my favorite. Fulvia is curvy, sexy and PLUS! She shows how a PLUS girl should behave. Attitude, confidence and all the good things the magazine wants to show us is transmited by her picture. I really loved that cover…
I can’t decide between January and August. I like January because the black and white makes the model look classic. and August because the model looks like she’s having fun at what she’s doing.
This was a really hard choice considering I love all the covers! But the winner for me is the October issue! I chose this one because it captivates what a magazine should look like (whether print or online). A gorgeous model, giving me eye contact on a blank background. When a magazine cover has those factors it draws me in! I’m not a fan of covers with scenic backgrounds. Those reminds me of editorials, which I think belong inside the mag (though the August issue was my second favorite). It also depends on the model. The model needs to sell the issue through her eyes, not just exist in the space. But overall, I love Plus Model Mag and everything it does for the Plus community!
So many great covers, hard to choose from Aug, Sept & Oct those are my fave so far.
Great job on all covers and thanks for give such great plus size resources!
I love the November cover! And to be totally honest it’s mostly because I would TOTALLY rock that outfit! I love black,gray/silver, animal prints, metallics, studs etc so I was drawn to that cover right off the bat–it’s very “edgy” and stands out. Love the look, and I tend to dress in a similar way when I go out because I’m 5′ 11″–I CAN’T make an “unobtrusive” entrance into a room, ppl always notice me so I figure why not give ‘em a show? LOL ;-P
August 2010 was the best. I mean, who DIDN’T want those pants after seeing that cover? I recall reading the entire issue. Fun times!
I absolutely love the January cover. Whitney looks gorgeous as ever and it has a beautiful retro feel that I am just hypnotized by. My second favorite would be september, becuase its totally an outfit I would rock, in fact I think I own those tights!
My vote goes to April 2010. The model featured is a true plus sized model. I think a lot of full figured women are not happy seeing size 12/14′s modeling plus sized fashions.
I have to vote for October! Put my personal love for Fluvia aside, and think of how she changes the notion that plus size models can only do commercial and catalog work. I love that she isn’t afraid to look sexy, fierce, and unsweetened for the camera. The shot almost looks dirty and sweaty, juxtaposed to a little sparkly black dress. I love the pose of December’s cover model and I love the fashion forward styling of the February issue. Great job on all of your issues!
I love the September 2010. This is high fashion with curves…………… Would love to see more like this!
I love the August 2010 cover for 3 simple words… “Big Is Beautiful”!
April, April, April! It’s a great full-length shot. While all the covers have lovely models, Ms. Borgella’s cover is the only one that I look at and think, “Hmmm, I could actually have a shot at modeling!”
I LOVE the April issue cover! I feel that Joanne is a plus model that is more a “my size” plus model and that she is wearing fashions that I could see myself in. It was an inspiration to see a fuller model. She made me wanna go out and buy that Monif C dress because I could now see myself in it. I also Loved the fact that for your Love is a Battelfield spread that you also used a “fuller” model. And I must also state that in every issue I love the Head To Toe articles! I have received a lot of fashion inspiration from them. I love em! love ‘em! love ‘em!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the December 2010 Cover!!! Alexandra Elise is beatiful and the rocker vibe she is rocking is AMAZING! I love ANTM and Alexandra and Whitney Thomas are true inspirations for all plus size women. I look forward to seeing more issues…
I liked August 2010 because of the rooftop photo and also because of the YFF Conference!
I love the October 2010 cover! Fluvia is absolutely stunning! The photo itself is great too, the black and white photo is really beautiful.
My vote is for the sexy denise on August’s cover. she has the killer curves, and I love the styling, inez’s photography, and the setting. I also like to see full body, head to toe covers. Hot model, hot cover, and an all around great denim issue!
I particularly fell in love with the August issue, not because it is my birthday month but because the photography skills are very professional. The lightening and contrast with the picture makes the cover pop and add a sort of confidence that I can relate to. The scenery is amazing especially since it is about to be the beginning of fall, and just in the hype of daylight’s savings time. The picture exudes a plethora of imaginative story lines and have endless interpretation, that’s what a cover picture should offer. I choose AUGUST.
First I would like to say all the Plus Model Magazine covers are beautiful.. Bravo.. I love April’s 2010 Cover. Becaues I can relate to her body type, style its comfortable and chic. I also love the articles (Music).. Thank you Plus Model Magazine Staff you guys are my inspiration..
I love august. She looks sexy and prud of her real woman’s curves. Love the background too.
January and March covers… in terms that this is a PLUS MODEL Magazine…kept my attention as to what I love about being Plus-sized. These were my top 2 picks that inspired me. It’s an industry representation that can send a message and still PULL in ALL different sized models, designers, advertisers, etc. that may consider how HOT & Fashion Forward using plus models can be, as well as being commercial, too. If I must choose a favorite…personal choice is March.
For me, I have to echo what others have said regarding the April 2010 cover. My fave hands down! You rarely see a model that represents the norm plus size shape (14 and up) and it’s nice to see that on a magazine cover. Not taking away from the others because they’re all beautiful. But I identify more with the model from the April 2010 cover.
I feel that April and September are my favs because I remember when I was going to the casting for Monique’s Fat Chance Joanne (April’s Cover Model) was there and her voice blew me away. I got the chance to meet her yrs later at the EVO fashion show 2010 and she is so sweet. I love the September cover because that SCREAMS me style. To be honest all the covers are the best. Its nice to see that fashion is not just sizes -0-2. As a plus size woman; I’m happy to see people that i can relate to in a magazine. Thanks PLUS Magazine.
I love the September issue. I love the blue. I love the model. She is very unique looking and has sweet face. It was very hard to decide becasue I love so many other covers. Happy Holidays!
January because the model is so lovely with her shiny black hair with the satin top and what looks like a sexy black nightie I would kill for. 100% beautiful!!!!
September was very high fashion and gorgeous, but i will vote for April because she is more of a real plus sized woman.. Most American women are plus sized and want to see a real woman, wearing something that we could actually wear and look nice in, not just barely thick women with clothes that conceal their curves..
When I see Chloe Marshall in March 2010…I feel like a young invincible diva! As plus size young lady, yes at times I want to feel like a Greek Goddess, yet there are times when I just am such a tomboy and want to showcase that! Out off all the covers, I promise you March 2010 is the dead ringer; it is the only one that made me stop and go “my damn, that girl is hott and she makes me feel hot as well!”
I am a former model (when I was thin) from the 80′s and my portfolio is 90% B&W, so I like the January issue. Plus, it’s simple, and in a duaghter-way, resembles my old photos! Ha!
Damn! You guys are making me want to subscribe!
