PLUS Model Magazine Won’t Stand For the Bullying of Terri Herlihy by Ven Budhu on Project Runway!
New York — Aug 30, 2012 / (http://www.myprgenie.com/) — PLUS Model Magazine (PMM), Well Known for Promoting Equal Rights for Plus Size Women in Fashion, Provides Terri the Makeover She Deserves.
A collective outcry from all over the world was heard in the media surrounding Project Runway’s 6th episode. The designers were challenged when they were presented with non-models who were brought in for the L’Oreal Paris Makeover My Friend Challenge. Not all the ladies were plus size but one in particular was, Terri Herlihy. Terri, a size 10, was paired up with designer Ven Budhu, a plus size man, who from the very beginning was not at all excited about the challenge. Throughout the episode we see Ven bully his client for her size to the point where Terri breaks down in tears.
“Unacceptable!” states Madeline Jones, PMM Editor-in-Chief. “It’s unacceptable for anyone to be treated with such disrespect and lack of human decency. What should have been an exciting time for Terri Herlihy, turned into a nightmare before the public’s eyes as she was humiliated and demeaned by Ven on national television.”
Needless to say Ven did not put his all into Terri’s look, but was not sent home leaving Terri and millions of plus-size Project Runway viewers very disappointed.
Turning anger to action, Ms. Jones reached out to Terri personally to lend a shoulder and provide the makeover she well deserves. “We are putting together for her what Mr. Budhu was unable to provide, a makeover where she will feel beautiful, stylish and embraced,” shares Jones. “We have reached out to some of the top fashion retailers who will be participating in Terri’s makeover and photo shoot, which will be seen in the annual October, Love Your Body issue of PLUS Model Magazine, along with a heart-to-heart interview. Also, our friends at Love Your Style by Kmart, Lane Bryant, Igigi by Yulia Raquel, SWAK Designs, Always For Me and more will be offering Terri gift cards totaling over $1300!”
When pressed for more of a reaction on the show, Jones continued, “Instead of Ven rising to the occasion as an aspiring designer, he instead made excuses to cover for his lack of experience and knowledge. I don’t have much more to say that has not already been said by the outpouring of love and support for Terri from our readers and the public.”
In closing, Ms. Jones commented, “Actually, I do have one more thing to say, and I am directing this to Ven personally… when you commented, ’Working with a plus size is very challenging,’ I would say your greater challenge is not a single episode of Project Runway, but learning the skill-set to work with, support and treat with respect the more than 40 million women (YOUR potential clients) in the United States alone who wear a size 14 and up.” She continues, “If you need information on how to provide fashion forward options to plus size woman, give me a call and I will offer some advice on how you might be able to rise to the challenge next time, should there be a next time.”

I was very upset with this Ven person he needs to look in the mirror, the outfit that he made for her I wouldn’t give it to my mother to wear and she 79 and very stylist, don’t think that I’m going to watch project runway until he gets the boot. Power to us beautiful plus size women.

I’m so glad Terri is going to get the special treatment she deserves! Ven is a terrible person for how he treated her and I hope he takes this as a learning experience – though I won’t be holding my breath. I’d love to see him kicked off on tonight’s episode. I can’t watch it because I work late nights at Dish, but fortunately I set my Hopper to record it for me. I’ll be turning it on as soon as I get home. Here’s hoping Terri can finally put her awful experience with Ven behind her.

I too am a plus size model, I model for Image makers pro, and I love to walk the runway. My husband say’s to me all the time, you are not a plus size model your boobs and butt are plus sz, well whether its my boobs, butt belly arms or shoulders what ever the case may be… he say’s I am perfect the way I am. He doesn’t see a plus size model in me all he see’s is the woman he married and that I am beautiful. I’m sure Terri’s husband feels the same way, but we as women alway’s know there is some sz 4 out there who is going to get picked before us because she has a nicer body a prettier face, or the fact that some people just do not like plus sz women. Well I am here to say ” whether I am a plus sz or not I think all women are beautiful. I am a professional makeup artist and I would rather do a makeover on a woman that had a plus sz face then a woman who barely has any skin on her face which makes her look like Ziggy, I don’t like doing makeovers on skeletons either…but hey its a challenge that I except with out any insults to anyone.
I have heard about all i need to hear about how bad Terri has it. She insulted him as much as he insulted her if not worse. He tried to work with her, all she kept saying is i don’t want to be here. He ask a few question’s she responded as what ever” so she had a bad attitude as well… I do not say that bullying is ok but she gave it just as much as she got it, and just to think i was on her side until a couple of the other girl’s heard what I heard as well. So she is not AT ALL INNOCENT IN THIS…” So get over this already and lets go back to our normal lives.
There are a lot of women out there getting abused by there families, husbands and boyfriends and I do not see you giving them any makeovers….. those are the real victims of bullying. He was a designer and now she is making out like a bandit while other women are still getting abused. So how does this help all the other women out there? She is taking this to more levels and I do not see her helping any other woman out there….I will help them and if you have any consideration at all…. you would do something for the real vitims as well.
