Designer Karl Lagerfeld has been very vocal about his disdain for “fat people”. Well, one group in France does not want to deal with his derogatory statements anymore.

Belle, Ronde, Sexy et je M’assume has filed a legal complaint against the designer in France. The organization, whose name means “Beautiful, Round, Sexy and OK with It”, filed legal action against the designer because of his latest comments on a French television appearance earlier this month.

Representing the organization, President Betty Aubrière told AFP:

“These insults by public personalities must stop. We’re sick of it. There are many young girls who don’t feel comfortable in their skin, and for them to hear comments like that is terrible for them. Today it’s [Lagerfeld] who finds us offensive. Who will it be tomorrow?”

The comments that prompted the legal complaint to be filed, aired on the October 4th episode of ‘Le Grand 8’ on French TV channel D8, where Lagerfeld blamed fat people for France’s struggling healthcare system by saying:

“The hole in social security, it’s also [due to] all the diseases caught by people who are too fat.”

He also talked about his opinions regarding plus size women on the runway, saying:

“Nobody wants to see round women on the catwalk.”

The organization hopes this legal action will bring more attention towards discrimination against plus size people and sends the message that it’s not okay.

Take that, Karl Lagerfeld!

What do you think of this lawsuit? Do you agree that such an action had to be taken? Do you think it will stop Karl Lagerfeld from making any further derogatory statements regarding plus size people? Please leave us a comment below and let us know.
