Are you an aspiring plus size model? Would you like to know more about how to break into the plus modeling world? Then this Modeling 101 feature is for you!

Every week, I will be answering a modeling question on the blog that are asked often by readers and aspiring models. This is a great opportunity to learn more about breaking into the business and gaining tips and honest input on how to proceed in deciding if plus modeling is the career for you.

This week’s question is…

Q: How do I know how to select a photographer for test shoots? And how much should I expect to pay?

A: Great question! When looking for a photographer, you should first know what YOU are looking for. If you are looking to build your book to get signed, then look for a photographer whose work is more commercial. Someone who has worked with aspiring and working models is best. This photographer should be someone whose work is featured on the modeling agencies’ websites.

Expect to pay anywhere between $600 to $1,200 depending on the photographer and the package. A model knows that she needs more than a good photographer to get nice photos. You need a makeup artist, hair stylist, wardrobe stylist and retouching afterwards. This will ensure that you get your money’s worth.

Tune into the blog next week to see what question I will answer next!
