My Kimono Obsession and Gripe Session with MarlaWynne (Wait Till You See the Results!)

Kimonos have been around for a very long time. It’s a seasonless piece that has graced our closets for several years, being that stylish layering piece that works for so many women. Short, long and in fabulous prints or solid colors, we’ve seen the kimono in a variety of ways that we love.

Having a personal obsession with kimonos and equally obsessed with anything from designer MarlaWynne, I decided to express my gripes directly to her about what I was NOT seeing in the ever-changing kimono styles.

After allowing me time to vent, she smirked and said, “Let me show you something…”. Not yet available on HSN, she showed me a sample of the Drama Kimono with pockets. What was even more exciting was that almost ALL of my gripes were addressed.

For instance, I’m not very shapely so I like silhouettes that give me the illusion of more defined curves. I love kimonos, but how could they give me a little more shape? The Drama Kimono has side slits (vents) that allow my hips to be seen so I’m not surrounded by fabric hiding my body. Instead, my shape is peaking through! GENIUS!!!

Next, I addressed the pocket situation. I do so many things in one day, so pockets are a necessity. Why can’t I have a beautiful kimono with pockets that look like they belong? Well, the Drama Kimono HAS POCKETS!!! I could have kissed the designer, but instead I kissed myself in the mirror because I loved the way it looked on me.

My last major gripe was a complex one. Being a businesswoman, mom and all-around busy social person I wanted to be able to wear a kimono, no matter what my schedule dictated. Could I wear the same kimono with a pair of jeans and then dress it up with a skirt, or even a blouse and slacks for a business meeting?
