The 40+ Blogger Series: Sandra of La Pecosa Preciosa

If you’re 40 or older, you have had a front seat to the evolution of plus size fashion in the last few decades.

When I hear 20-something year-old’s complain about how limited plus size fashion is, I always tell them, “You have no idea. What’s available now is leaps and bounds from where we used to be.

Add being over a size 24 to that and you really know the struggle that we had to endure in the 70’s and 80’s.

With that said, we thought it would be interesting, as well as insightful, to spotlight 12 plus size fashion bloggers over 40 in a weekly series, chatting with them about their style, favorite trends and how their fashion choices have evolved over the years.

This week, the 40+ Blogger Series features the sassy and stylish Sandra of La Pecosa Preciosa (The Precious Freckle Face).IMG_7561

How would you describe your style right now in one sentence? Classic, Feminine and sophisticated with a splash of chic.

What were your favorite brands and trends when you were in your 20’s?

In my 20’s, I was all about dressing very tomboy-ish. My main go-to styles were rugby shirts, baggy jeans and boots.

What are your favorite brands and trends now?  Eloquii, Lane Bryant, ModamixAshleyStewartPolkaDress (3)

How has your style changed over the years? Did your body image affect the way you dressed?

I’ve done a complete 180 when it comes to my style. After having my son, I never lost the baby weight and pretty much let myself go because I hated the way I looked. It wasn’t until 2006 when I decided to get out my funk and start changing the way I dress.

What advice would you offer your younger self when it comes to fashion and body positivity?

Things will get easier and you will learn to love yourself from the inside out, which will only shine through in your personal style.IMG_9123

What trends are you happy to see return this fall and winter?

Capes, riding boots, bold prints and florals, camo/military

Who are some of your style inspirations in the blogger world?

Oh wow, where do I start?!? Darlene from Suits, Heels and Curves, Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman, Carelia of Small Wardrobe, Jeniese of The Jenesaisquoi, Alissa of Stylish Curves, and the list can go on and on!IMG_1725

What trends are you looking forward to this spring?

More off the shoulder styles, bold stripes, garden party florals, peasant dresses and Oxford shirts.

What are your plans for the blog in 2017?

I definitely will be stepping up my blogger game this year. Last year was so great that it has pushed me to make this year even better. Adding more beauty and lifestyle to the blog as well as getting my feet wet with YouTube. So stay tuned for some fun things to come!_L9A3894
