What a pleasure to sit down for a virtual chat with the winner of the BGM Model Search, Jessica Hickman.

BGM, which is an exclusive plus agency located in Australia, has an impressive list of A-list talent working and thriving in the plus modeling industry.

[Maddy] How did you hear about the model search?

[Jessica] The Perth model search was announced on a television program called Today Tonight. I checked out the details on the BGM website and entered from there.

[Maddy] Had you ever tried to become a model before?

[Jessica] I have done photographic and catwalk modeling before when I was in my early teens, but it was more just for fun as it was something I enjoyed. There was very little scope for plus size modeling then, so I never thought of pursuing it.

[Maddy] How has your life changed since winning the model search?

[Jessica]  Days start very early, but I have thoroughly enjoyed being interviewed and photographed for the local newspapers as well as being on television. I received a hair makeover and hair products from JAS International Salon as part of my prize which was wonderful. I am having my first photo shoot for my BGM portfolio soon, which I’m very excited about. I am also thrilled to be featured in Plus Model Magazine!

[Maddy] What are you goals in the modeling industry?

[Jessica] My goals are to be part of an industry representing beautiful, real women with healthy body images. I’d love to have international exposure to encourage women all over the world to love the body that God gave them. I want to help break the stereotype of what it is to be a model today – beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

[Maddy] What would be your dream modeling job?

[Jessica] Being an outdoors girl, I’d love to travel and do a photo shoot somewhere exotic like Madagascar amongst the beautiful jungle and wild animals.
