Plus Size Fashion Event Recap: Curvy Closets Fashion Showcase & Gala Benefiting Hairless 4 Her Awareness

A great event happened in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, October 12, 2013… The Curvy Closets Fashion Showcase & Gala is an annual runway show and cocktail reception that showcases fabulous fashion in the name of charity. Every year, a charitable organization is chosen to receive a portion of the proceeds from the show. This year’s charitable organization is Hairless 4 Her Awareness, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting awareness for breast cancer through community outreach and engagement.

Curvy Closets is the brainchild of Domonique Revere-Lincoln, CEO of Empress Lingerie and plus model and blogger Colleen Stovall of shortcurvyfierce.com. The event included 29 stunning plus models, sizes 12 – 24 and PLUS Model Magazine was the official media sponsor for the event.

The event’s main highlight is its runway show, which this year featured 8 great plus size designers showing their latest collections on the runway. Attendees included PMM Editor-in-Chief Madeline Jones, PMM Blog Editor Marcy Cruz, Full Figured Fashion Week Creator and Executive Producer Gwen Devoe, the creators of New Jersey Fashion Week and Philadelphia Fashion Week, blogger and author Kim McCarter, plus model Christina Mendez, as well as many bloggers, designers and retailers. Plus model, blogger and designer Allison McGevna was the host and also unveiled her new collection TwentyFour20 Designs on the runway at the event.
