Plus Size Modeling News: MSA Models Suing Competitor MC2 Model Management For Unpaid Commissions And ‘Poaching’ A Plus Size Model

NY Post reports that MSA Models has filed a lawsuit against competitor MC2 Model Management. The $700,000 lawsuit is centered around one plus size model that MSA Models claims was responsible for her success and is accusing MC2 of “poaching” her, which led to her switching agencies.

The model Jennifer Caryn Hyman, was signed to MSA at the start of her career, which lead to lucrative modeling opportunities with David’s Bridal and Donna Karan.

She abruptly ended her relationship with MSA in July 2012 and signed on with MC2 Model Management. MSA is seeking unpaid commissions from Jennifer Caryn Hyman and MC2 in their lawsuit.

MSA alleges in their lawsuit that a former employee of theirs joined the MC2 team and worked with the President of MC2 to to pursue or “poach” models under exclusive contracts to switch agencies.

“Poaching” is when other agencies contact and try to lure successful models away from their current agency in an effort to get them to switch to their agency.

MC2 and Jennifer Caryn Hyman have not issued any comments at this time. As this story develops, we will report it more in depth.
