Plus Size Modeling Spotlight: Plus Model Hayley Hasselhoff Thinks It’s Cool To Be A Plus Size Model
While there are some smaller plus size models who don’t want to be called ‘plus size’ anymore, one model who embraces the term is Hayley Hasselhoff.
The 21-year old daughter of actor David Hasselhoff, who’s a size 14, is currently in London prepping for her catwalk appearance at British Plus Size Fashion Weekend.
She spoke with the London Evening Standard on her experience thus far as a plus size model. She is in favor for inclusion in the modeling industry but does not mind being called a plus size model because she believes she is a positive role model for young girls and that’s what is important. She told the London Evening Standard:
“I’m so proud to be part of the plus-size movement. I think it should be more integrated [with London Fashion Week] but at the end of the day it would have to start somewhere. It’s just really cool to be part of the movement in the early stages.”
She goes on to say:
“It’s important to me but it’s more important that I’m involved in something that’s a good role model for young girls. I just think it’s so cool that young girls get the opportunity to see different shapes and sizes on the catwalk. I think it could help them with their self-esteem.”
