Plus Model Spotlight: Brittany Cordts’ Top Denim Trend Tips
Plus models know a thing or two about fashion. They are a walking billboard for promoting fashion.
Many plus models have become a fashion inspiration to their fans by documenting their fashion experiences or capturing their outfits of the day on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Plus models are not just these faces that we see on a magazine cover… they are everyday women, just like us. Their job may be to pose in front of the camera but after that photo shoot, they are also wives, mothers, career women, etc.
Twice a month on this blog, we will feature a plus model and share her top trends of the season and tips on how to wear those trends. Just our way of honoring those beautiful and phenomenal everyday women. We’re kicking off this month, which is all about denim at PMM, with a favorite of ours, plus model Brittany Cordts.
You may have seen Brittany walking the runway at Full Figured Fashion Week this year or on TV, modeling for HSN. Brittany has graced the pages of PLUS Model Magazine before, most notably being featured as our Spotlight of the Month in our June 2013 issue.

How long have you been modeling and where have we seen you?
I have been modeling for the last two years. A few of my most notable experiences along the way would be walking on the runway at Full Figured Fashion Week for Lane Bryant, SwimsuitsforAll, Kiyonna, Sonsi, and Evans (just to name a few) and modeling live on HSN (Home Shopping Network) on a weekly basis where I’ve had the opportunity to model for clothing lines such as Serena Williams, Guiliana Ranchic, Nene Leakes, Shemar Moore, Cookie Johnson, Vince Camuto, and many more. I also had the liberty of being featured in PMM back in June 2013 as their Spotlight Model of the Month.

Classy, Confident, Chic
What are your three favorite designers or retailers?
Forever 21+ is perfect for inexpensive, trendier pieces to spice up my wardrobe. I’ll usually get my staples that I know are going to be the work horses of my wardrobe at Macy’s or Nordstrom.
What are your top 3 favorite denim trends?
Distressed Denim, Denim shirts, Ankle jeans
What are your fashion tips on wearing those trends?
Distressed Denim: I really like the I’m-stylish-without-trying look that distressed denim gives you. I’m all about contradictions in fashion so whether they’re boyfriend jeans or skinnys, I would pair distressed jeans with sleek heels. On top, I would wear a fitted blazer or a solid tee and keep jewelry to a minimum.
Denim Shirts: My denim shirts get so much mileage. I’ll wear them with a floral or leather skirt, over a swimsuit, tucked into darker denim skinny jeans, tied in the front with a maxi skirt, or left open over a tank with shorts or over a summer dress. There’s really no wrong way to wear a denim shirt. You can even button it up all the way and pair with a statement necklace. Denim shirts are so versatile and will be a go-to, staple in your wardrobe. Oh! And I always roll up the sleeves.
Ankle Jeans: Whether they’re cropped or you roll up a favorite pair of jeans, showing a little ankle is subtly sexy. Keep your ankle jeans slim fitting to avoid looking like “high-waters.” I always wear them with fun heels since attention is going to be drawn to your feet. This style is a great way to frame your favorite pair of heels! I often find myself planning my whole outfit around which shoes I want to wear which is probably why I like this look so much. On top, you can pretty much wear anything. I tend to gravitate towards feminine, looser pieces in a chiffon fabric but I’m also a big fan of peplum tops and anything in bright colors.
