Jezebel.com reports that a reader clued them on this category, which she came across while searching for a plus size Halloween costume. This reader was not the only one to notice, with someone else tweeting about it and receiving a very general response (see below).
This category features many of the same costumes within the plus size Halloween costume category so it makes us wonder what exactly is the reasoning behind the extra category and why it was named “fat girl costumes”. As the time of the writing of this article, the category is still live on the site here. First, Target used pregnant models to market plus size clothing on their website and now this?
UPDATE: (10/27/14, 1:16pm) – Walmart representative Ravi Jariwala issued this following statement to ABC News (the category has since been pulled from their website):
“This never should have been on our site. It is unacceptable, and we apologize. We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again.”
