Powerful and Plus Event Sets Out To Celebrate Plus Size Women & Their Power
Mark your calendars! If you’re a plus size woman in the NYC area, there’s a great event happening on Saturday, January 31st that is worth checking out.
The Powerful and Plus event is an event organized by Paris Alexandra of Paris of New York, an online series chronicling the stories of everyday people through media, art, and entertainment.
The Powerful and Plus event is dedicated to celebrating the plus size woman and her power. There will be a inspirational panel discussion with some great individuals from the plus size industry participating. Plus size fashion retailer Ashley Stewart will be sponsoring the event.
Our own PMM blog contributor Darlene Lebron-Lopez of the blog Suits, Heels and Curves will be speaking on the panel. Darlene is a strong advocate for the curvy professional woman and helping her find perfect office fashion that fits well and will make her feel more confident.
There will also be an clothing drive happening during the event, where plus size clothing donations will be accepted to be donated to The Door, a youth organization whose mission is to empower young people to reach their potential by providing comprehensive youth development services in a diverse and caring environment.
All clothing donations should be new or gently used clothing. They can be career wear, casual, dressy and basics. The clothing will go to young people experiencing homelessness and/or looking for jobs.
This event will include the launch of the second webisode of the Paris in New York series, which highlights powerful women within the plus industry embracing their curves and living their dreams. Our own Editor-in-Chief Madeline Jones is featured in the webisode as well as many other strong, powerful talented women from the industry.
This is a wonderful opportunity to be inspired and meet other women from the plus community to network, be empowered as well as donate to an amazing cause.
