Target Under Fire After Confirming New Lilly Pulitzer Collection in Plus Sizes Will Only Be Available Online

Yesterday, we reported that Target had announced its latest designer collaboration with brand Lilly Pulitzer and the collection will include plus sizes.

Target replied to a tweet from blogger LaToya of the Fat Girl of Fashion blog who asked if plus sizes would be available in-store or online. Their reply confirmed that plus sizes from the new collection will be only offered online. We heard that at the time of our report but Target had not confirmed it until now.

Are we surprised? No. However, social media has emerged as a great way to voice your opinion and let retailers know how you really feel. The days of us feeling like they are not listening are over. Bloggers have power in numbers and as a result, many retailers turn to bloggers to promote their brand to the masses. Bloggers connect with fans in a way that many retailers can’t.

And Target has now landed itself in hot water. Bloggers such as Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman, Sarah Conley from StyleitOnline.com and Farrah Estrella from The Estrella Fashion Report all voiced their disappointment and frustration on social media at the retailer for this move. These are fashion bloggers with large fanbases and we are sure they will not be the only ones speaking their minds to Target.
