Plus size model Tess Holliday continues to make strides, in not only the modeling world, but also in spreading her message to women everywhere to love their bodies and be happy. The size-22 model and founder of the #effyourbeautystandards movement recently wrote an inspirational piece for Today.com telling the world why she loves her body and wants other women to love theirs, too.
In her piece, titled “Why I love my body and want other women to love theirs”, Tess candidly talks about her years of struggling with body confidence and bullying because she realized that it was important to tell her story and inspire others. Since being the first model of her size and height signed to a major modeling agency earlier this year, Tess has received many letters from fans that are dealing with their own struggles of body acceptance. She states:
“All of this attention makes me realize how many people have been waiting for someone like me to say it’s OK to love yourself, no matter your size or shape. My story proves that you can achieve your dreams, you can be happy and you are beautiful.”
Her determination and willingness to never give up makes her story worth reading especially if you’re a plus size woman who is constantly being told you are not good enough to succeed or if you’re struggling on your own journey of body acceptance.
Kudos to Tess for being brave enough to share her story.
