Women of All Sizes Were Celebrated at PMM’s ‘Celebrate My Size’ Expo & Town Hall Meeting During FFF Week
We announced earlier this month that we would be partnering up with FFF Week and Ashley Stewart to hold our first “Celebrate My Size” expo and town hall meeting on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Studio Arte in New York City.
The expo’s main goal was to empower and inspire women of all sizes to celebrate their bodies and love themselves as they are, as well as get pampered and shop!
Plus size fashion retailer Ashley Stewart made the expo a stop on their #LoveYourCurvesTour. And there were other pop-up shops available as well as some pampering, refreshments and networking opportunities.
Artist Lena J. was in the building, drawing portrait caricatures for guests. FFF Week 2015 premier sponsor Fit for Me Fruit of the Loom was also in attendance, giving guests free packages of their new, improved underwear. There was also a beauty bar and lots of networking and mingling opportunities.
The Town Hall meeting portion offered a very honest discussion on the plus size industry, tackling topics such as the Drop The Plus campaign, the terms “fat fashion” and “fatkini” and what is lacking in the plus size fashion industry. Moderated by blogger/writer Marie Southard Ospina, the panel included PMM Editor-in-Chief Madeline Jones, CEO of CurveNation Donald Dolson, CEO and Creative Director of The RUNWAY+ Robin Stennet and Tamara Ivey, who handles marketing, events and PR for Ashley Stewart. The audience was invited to speak, ask questions and interact with the panel.
It was an amazing event that we hope will return next year. Here’s some more images from the expo:
We hope to see you there next year! You can also join in our #CelebrateMySize movement by posting your images on Instagram with that hashtag. Who knows? You might be featured on our IG page. We regram 10 pics daily.
