Are you an aspiring plus size model? Would you like to know more about how to break into the plus modeling world? Then this Modeling 101 feature is for you!
Every week, I will be answering a modeling question on the blog that are asked often by readers and aspiring models. This is a great opportunity to learn more about breaking into the business and gaining tips and honest input on how to proceed in deciding if plus modeling is the career for you.
This week’s question is…
Q: What are some great tips for walking runway? I’d love to audition for FFF Week next year so I’m preparing now.
A: If there is a local runway workshop in your area, take it! If not, then start practicing. Go on YouTube and check out the FFF Week channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/fffweek) as well as other videos that may be online from third party sources. Look at the models walking down the runway. Some will be more experienced than others, so mimic your walk after those that seem most confident and whose walk seems more mature.
You can also search for the FFF Week casting director and former model, Sharon Quinn. She has a lot of experience on the runway and you will see her on the runway during her modeling days.
If you’re located in the NY/NJ/CT area, plus size model Liris Crosse has modeling boot camps she runs every few months. Just follow her on Facebook here and on Instagram here to find out about the next one. She also posts videos of her walking the runway as well.
Do your research and practice, practice, practice!
