Are you an aspiring plus size model? Would you like to know more about how to break into the plus modeling world? Then this Modeling 101 feature is for you!
Every week, I will be answering a modeling question on the blog that are asked often by readers and aspiring models. This is a great opportunity to learn more about breaking into the business and gaining tips and honest input on how to proceed in deciding if plus modeling is the career for you.
This week’s question is…
Q: I sent in my photos to a modeling agency and they asked to see me. I went in and shortly after, received an email that said they were not interested. What did I do wrong?
A: Not knowing exactly what you were wearing, what you sent in and how the meeting went, I can’t say anything for sure. I will, however, give you some advice for the next opportunity.
- Make sure that you send in correct height and measurements. Some of these people have been working in this field for many years and can look at a girl on sight and know she is not 5’9″.
- What you wear says as much about you as your pictures. Did you wear tons of makeup and have long bright nails? Leggings and a tunic, denim jeans, tank and a blazer, or a beautiful dress would do the trick. Simple makeup, hair and neutral nails. No fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and overly styled hair. They need to see you as a canvas.
- Were you on time? If you were late, it’s a no-no! Always be EARLY! This way, if you run into any trouble, you are giving yourself extra time and may actually make it on time.
