I love the holiday season for so many reasons, with spending time with family and friends being #1 as it’s the perfect time to spend quality time with your loved ones that we may have missed out on all year.
When Catherines Plus Sizes approached me about spending a girls weekend with five fabulous ladies from the plus size fashion industry, I was ecstatic! I’m a girl’s GIRL! A weekend away to have fun and play with fashion? I could not resist! Our girl squad included Kellie Brown from AndIGetDressed.com, Ty Alexander from GorgeousinGrey.com, Rochelle Johnson from beauticurve.com, CeCe Olisa from plussizeprincess.com and Margie Ashcroft from MargiePlus.com.
Our trip began on a brisk Saturday morning where we were greeted with baked goods, fruits and coffee!
We arrived at a stunning Victorian home in Rhinebeck, NY where we were greeted by members of the Catherines Plus Sizes team and slowly made our way through the three-floor, six-bedroom home. Once we had settled in, it was time for lunch, followed by a hair and makeup session with StyleSeat (www.styleseat.com) and Robyn Michele Beauty (www.RobynMicheleBeauty.com). We were then individually photographed by fashion and lifestyle photographer Lydia Hudgens in our individual day looks from Catherines Plus Sizes.

Next, we were introduced to Nick Voulgaris from Kerber’s Farm. We made our very own jam and learned how to create a beautiful cornucopia.
After our time with Nick, we had time to rest up and get ready for our cocktail/dinner party.
Our night ended in such a fun way! This was probably my favorite part of the evening because I laughed so much. We had a pajama party and mixology lesson from the guys at Liquid Lab NYC (liquidlabnyc.com). We were all taught how to mix 4 different holiday cocktails and participate in a contest where we had to create our own cocktail mix. I did not win. I actually came in last but I had the time of my life!
After all that excitement, I was the first one to hit the sack and the first one to wake up in the morning. After a delicious breakfast spread on Sunday morning, it was time for us to get dressed and enjoy our last few hours together.
Whenever you are invited to a gathering like this, there is always a risk of mishaps but I can honestly say we truly wanted for nothing on this trip. Every detail was addressed, from the signage on our doors and THE MOST amazing gift bag ever to the events that were planned for us. The ambiance Catherines Plus Sizes created was fantastic and so perfect to celebrate the holidays with friends.
My fashion aesthetic has evolved over the years. I’ve done the ALL BLACK from head-to-toe as well as the tight minis for a while also but now as a professional, a wife and a mother, I experiment with fashion and appreciate it so much more. Catherines Plus Sizes has been around since those times where it wasn’t cool to offer “plus size” options and they too have evolved in their offerings and styles, which is amazing. What I wore during this Holidays with Catherines weekend, I loved because it fit my current love and needs for trendy fashion.
