Victoria’s Secret has been under scrutiny and gotten backlash over the lack of, not only models of color, but their lack of plus size models used, especially on the runway. It’s to the point where their own models are even speaking out on their hope that plus size models will join them on the runway. [source]
So imagine our pleasant surprise when plus model Iman McDonnaugh posted on her Facebook page today that she is officially a fit model for the brand. It’s not runway but still, it’s Victoria’s Secret! A definite step in the right direction…
The Wilhelmina Curve model has been on fire since 2014, modeling for retailers/brands such as Lane Bryant, Target and Eloquii as well as walking in London Fashion Week’s first plus size runway show. She’s been featured a few times in the pages of our own magazine and graced the cover of our powerful “What is Plus Size?” issue in January 2014, along with plus model Anita Marshall.
