When blogger Darlene Lebron of Suits, Heels & Curves created her event titled “Redefining Healthy: Celebrating Your Curves from The Inside Out“, her vision was to empower women to celebrate their bodies, encourage them to be healthy at any size, and be confident from the inside and out.
According to Lebron:
“Redefining Healthy focuses on how wellness, beauty, fashion and self-love can strengthen your inner core and help you build a healthier version of yourself.”
When FFF Week Creator and Executive Producer Gwen Devoe heard about Lebron’s event, it was a no-brainer to include it into this year’s FFF Week’s schedule as Devoe’s mission to celebrate plus size women and fashion was on the same page as Lebron’s.
The event took place at the Hey Gorgeous! showroom in NYC and included sessions dedicated to beauty, styling, physical activity and a panel discussing “Owning Your Confidence“, which was moderated by our own Blog Editor Marcy Cruz.
The event’s mission was to get women, especially plus size women, to celebrate being healthy and confident by empowering them with inspiration, fashion, beauty and physical activity.
Panelists for the “Owning Your Confidence” discussion were:
Ally Gursky – Body Positive Blogger from “Candied Curves”
Rosaliz Jimenez – Photo Director of StyleWatch Magazine
Sasha Renee – Drag Performance Artist
Valeria Serenil- Tween Vlogger at “Suits, Heels & Curves”
The physical activity session was led by Jessie Diaz from “Curves with Moves“, who offered the crowd a low-impact workout session, which was so much fun. Her Vixen Workout is all about dancing, channeling your inner sexy and having a great time.
Fashion and wardrobe stylist Steffany Allen spoke about building your closet with pieces that will make you feel confident in her session and beauty blogger Ada Rojas of “Gypsy in the City” discussed beauty tips and how to not be intimidated by makeup.
Author and keynote speaker Sahar Paz shared her story of how she found her voice and encouraged all the individuals attending in such an empowering and inspiring way – it was a wonderful way to end this positive event.
