With Boohoo under fire recently for using size-12 models, it’s refreshing to hear when other UK brands and retailers use visibly plus models and models over a size 14 to star in major campaigns. The latest is Yours Clothing.
Plus size model Holly Macgillivray, who is a UK size-20 (US 16) has been chosen by the retailer as the winner of their “Face of Yours” model search.
Macgillivray told The Daily Post UK:
“I saw the competition for Face of Yours, which is to be a new model for Yours Clothing, and decided to enter and I got shortlisted.
I had to go to Peterborough for a test shoot where I tried on two of their outfits and had about 50 photos taken and I won.”
The model search was launched by the retailer to find fresh faces to use on their website.
Macgillivray wants to use this opportunity to inspire women to be confident and wear what they love:
“I am so, so excited to win and be given this opportunity. Being a bit bigger than their current models I didn’t think I’d have a chance but think it is great Yours Clothing have a bigger model as they stock clothes from a size 14 upwards and it will be nice for customers to see what clothes look like on someone other than a size 16!
Wear what you want, what makes you feel your best, don’t worry about people judging you etc. Just be you!”
The plus size model is no stranger to competitions. She came in third place in Curvy Kate’s “Star in a Bra” model search last year. Curvy Kate sells lingerie for women who wear D to K cups.
Macgillivray will be shooting her first campaign with Yours Clothing in September.
