“Fall is the season to experiment with textures, patterns, and color. This season’s trends are ideally just that! Between rich earthy tones, bell sleeves, velvet, and statement chokers, the styling options are endless.” Andrea letstalkchic.com
How long have you been blogging?
How did you get started?
I started my blog during my holiday vacation in December 2013. As I was working your typical administrative 8 to 5 job, I found myself craving and seeking more out of my daily life. Having gone to art school and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fashion Merchandising, fashion and beauty have always played big roles in my life. Being that I kept up with trends within both industries through YouTube tutorials and other bloggers, I created my blog to serve as a creative outlet in the meantime I “figured things out” as far as, career and what-not.
As I continued to post, I received positive feedback from friends and family and shortly a following had grown through social media. Once I continued to receive such positive results and my creativity broadened, it motivated me to blog consistently and opened up a window to serve as an inspiration to women from all over the world, no matter their shape, size, ethnicity, etc.
What fall trends are you loving right now?
This fall, I truly love the velvet movement! Velvet everything from dresses to shoes. Other fall trends I am obsessed with are bell sleeves, metal detailing, suede skirts & boots, chokers, tie-neck blouses, and dark botanical prints. Also, rich earthy tones such as Potter’s Clay, deep vibrant greens, and dusty rose which has become my latest neutral go-to.
Were you always a fashionista growing up? How did you develop your personal style?
Yes, growing up I was always mesmerized by beautiful clothing and knew fashion would be a part of my life.
Being plus size all my life, as a child I would always try to find ways on how to incorporate a certain trend while still working with my body type. I went through many style phases (lol) based on my moods and the current trends/fads at the time but I developed my personal style a few years ago by working with my body shape, not against it.
With a bit of sass and confidence, I am a firm believer everyone can wear what they please.
How would you describe your style?
I cannot categorize or label my style, simply because it changes depending on how I feel but the best way to describe it would be “versatile”. I look for versatility in pieces items that can be dressed up or down and adjustable styling (easy to mix & match).
Based on my mood, I can either gravitate towards a tailored, polished look, boho, casual with a bit of streetstyle, or even glammed up in a tulle skirt. Whatever it may be, always with a touch of sophistication and a hint of bold.
What are your tips to aspiring bloggers?
Be consistent, interact with your followers & readers, keep it organic and honest, create original content, and most importantly have f-u-n while blogging!
