How long have you been blogging?

About a year and a half.

How did you get started?

My background is in social media marketing so as I was developing strategies for clients I saw the power of social media, particularly Instagram. I had a major ‘aha’ moment and decided to use Instagram to create content around something I was passionate about.

Originally I built my community on Instagram and then started an actual blog after I had gotten really clear on my mission and point of view. The content I create is all about empowering women to love their bodies, use fashion as a form of self-expression and self-love no matter what size they are.

What fall trends are you loving right now?

I love the off-the-shoulder trend and I’m excited that the trend is carrying over into Fall. I’m into Fall florals, ruffle details, metallic’s and anything suede. I also really love mixing textures like a brocade pant and faux fur jacket combo.

Were you always a fashionista growing up? How did you develop your personal style?

Yes, I fell in love with fashion as a young girl! However as I immersed myself in the pages of my beloved fashion glossies, I absorbed the poisonous belief that I had to be skinny to be beautiful.

As a young girl, I fantasized about fitting into a size zero, and resented my naturally curvaceous body, hiding in baggy, unstylish clothes that only made me feel more unattractive. After spending my entire childhood and most of my adult life dieting and gaining and losing weight, I had a life-altering realization: I am enough. I don’t need to be a size zero to feel beautiful. I am tall, I am curvy, and I am beautiful exactly the way I am.

Luckily there have been many changes in the industry and we now have so many stylish options and a ton of amazing designers and brands that are creating clothing for plus size women. As a curvy style expert, blogger and positive body advocate, I am excited to be a part of a new generation of true role models who are defying beauty conventions and revolutionizing our relationship with the mirror.

How would you describe your style?

I would say my style is playful and feminine! I love having fun with my personal style and enjoy trying new things and taking risks. I adore color and love mixing patterns, and textures.

What are your tips to aspiring bloggers?

The first thing is to get super clear on your mission and the type of content you want to create. It’s super important to know the audience you want to reach. Then lead with what makes you unique and create content that is authentic.

Consistency is also super important. Make sure you stick to a consistent blogging schedule and use social media to reach and connect with your community. I love Instagram because I’ve been able to connect with and meet so many amazing women and bloggers. And just have fun! It’s a process, but enjoy the ride.
