Christian Siriano unveiled his 2018 bridal collection this week and has the industry talking.

The reason for all the chatter is because, not only is the new collection available in sizes up to 26 but Siriano also used two models (one a size 2 and one a size 16) to model dresses in the collection’s lookbook.

The designer has made no secret of his mission to dress all bodies. From his collaboration with Lane Bryant last year, which resulted in two popular collections, to his use of plus size models on the runway at his NYFW shows, he has shown that he is not just all talk when it comes to fashion diversity.

The new bridal collection is yet another step in that positive direction. Why should you feel like you must lose weight to fit into your wedding dress? Weight loss is not a requirement to being the perfect bride. The designer told MIC:

“For every bride, it’s almost like this notion that they need to lose weight. It’s a misconception, that looking your best means that you’re thin. That’s why so many brands think that a bride doesn’t want to see a plus-size woman advertising dresses for them, which is false.”

WWD calls the designer’s second bridal collection a “curated mix of whimsy and modernity“. One of Siriano’s strengths as a designer is that he listens to his customer and wants to cater to her needs. With his 2018 bridal collection, he is trying to cater to both the traditional bride and the modernist one, even adding a jumpsuit to the collection.
