It’s officially boot season! For many of us, finding a pair of tall boots that fits our wide calves can be a challenge.
While in the past, most wide calf tall boots only fit calves up to 18″, now there are options that fit calves larger than that. YESSSSS!
Here’s a few tips to keep in mind when shopping for wide calf tall boots:
- Have your tape measure ready! – Measure your calf at its widest point while sitting. Make sure to measure both calves, in case they are not the same in width. If there is the difference is more than a half inch, go up an inch to ensure proper (and comfortable!) fit.
- Don’t put away that tape measure just yet! – Make sure to measure from your heel to desired height. This will help when especially shopping online for tall boots. You want to make sure the boot is hitting you at a length you want and not too high or low.
- Don’t be afraid to try them on! – If you’re shopping in-store, make sure to try on different styles because you never know. Calf widths tend to get larger with shoe size so the larger your shoe size is, the wider the boot is. Make sure to stand after getting them on and zip them up as you’re standing. Standing will help you zip them up more easily.
- Know your return policies! – When shopping online, always check the return policy as that can get costly. Some companies do offer free returns but not all.

#2: Over The Knee Zip Heel Boot from Ashley Stewart, $53.70 ON SALE
Ashley Stewart offers extra wide calf boots and they’re a great retailer to check out if you’re on a budget. This one is currently on sale for $53.70! Available in sizes 8W to 12W.
According to their website, the size 10W has a 4.5″ heel, fits a 20″ calf and has a 23.5″ shaft. So the calf will be smaller on sizes under 10, but not under 18″.

#3: Zelinda Over the Knee High Heel Boot from Eloquii, $139.90
Looking for a sexy boot that pops with color? This boot from Eloquii is it! It has a 3.5″ heel and fits calves up to 20″. Available in sizes 7W to 12W. The website does not list the calf widths per size but Eloquii’s customer service is always great with answering questions so don’t be hesitant to give them a call.

#4: Leslie Extra Wide Calf Distressed Faux Leather Boot from Maurices, $59.95
This boot has a nice low 1/4″ block heel with a stretch goring on the back and fits a wide calf of 21″. Available in sizes 6W to 12W.

This is a great boot to check out if you’re shopping on a budget. Available in sizes 6W-9W only unfortunately. According to the product description, it says the boot has a 27″ shaft, 20.5″ calf width and 4″ heel.
