Fattitude The Movie has arrived!
The film, that centers on the important topic of fat phobia, is having its premiere in Brooklyn, NY on November 2nd and it is a must-see.
Not only does the proceeds benefit the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA), but Fattitude The Movie also talks to weight stigma and eating disorders. It opens the door to having those hard but necessary discussions in order to educate the masses and fight to make a difference.
The film examines how popular culture perpetuates the fat hatred and fat-shaming that results in a very real cultural bias and a civil rights issue for people who are living in fat bodies.
Fattitude is the brain-child of filmmakers Lindsey Averill and Viridiana Lieberman. Informed by a social justice background, Fattitude is very conscious and attentive to the idea that fat hatred crosses the lines of race, class, sexuality and gender.
