Plus Model Spotlight: Liris Crosse’s Top Summer Trend Tips
Plus models know a thing or two about fashion. They are a walking billboard for promoting fashion.
Many plus models have become a fashion inspiration to their fans by becoming bloggers and documenting their fashion experiences or capturing their outfits of the day on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Plus models are not just these faces that we see on a magazine cover… they are everyday women, just like us. Their job may be to pose in front of the camera but after that photo shoot, they are also wives, mothers, career women, etc.
Twice a month on this blog, we will feature a plus model and share her top trends of the season and tips on how to wear those trends. Just our way of honoring those beautiful and phenomenal everyday women. We’re kicking off this feature with plus model Liris Crosse who is known in the industry as “The Body” and “The Naomi Campbell of Plus”.
Liris has been featured in PMM previously, most notably as the face of the Sparkle This Holiday Season fashion editorial in our December 2013 issue and in an exclusive interview within our groundbreaking February 2014 issue “The Black Issue”, talking to her experiences, working as a woman of color in the plus modeling industry.

She will also be featured in an upcoming Fall/Winter 2014 campaign from UK plus fashion retailer Evans and has launched her own modeling boot camp where she teaches aspiring models how to walk the runway, pose and other key skills that are essential to becoming a successful model. We are so happy and honored to have her offering her favorite summer trends and fashion tips with PMM this month.

How long have you been modeling and where have we seen you?
I started in my teens, so over a decade now! Blessed to still be working on a high level. I have modeled in campaigns for Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, Qristyl Frazier and Monif C. to name a few.

Crazy, sexy, cool
What are your top 3 favorite summer trends?
Denim Overalls, tribal print jumpers and I’m still loving crop top sets.
What are your fashion tips on wearing those trends?
Overalls are cute, cozy and fun but you have to make sure they fit well! You can add a pop of color via a tank top/t-shirt or even using a crop top, if you dare to bare a little skin with your overalls. Accessorize your overalls with a hat, sunglasses or simple light jewelry.

For tribal print jumpers, please keep your shoe or sandal a solid color so your outfit doesn’t look extra busy, LOL! Play it up with funky earrings and layers of bangles! A solid head wrap can be fun to try too, if you’re up for the challenge.

For crop top sets, please make sure you have a good fit and you feel comfortable wearing it. We’re all built differently so if you need to get it taken in or let out a couple inches to fit your body shape, go for it! Tailoring can make or break an outfit! Actually, that’s a great tip for all the clothes that you buy, make it work for you.
