Macy’s To Close 14 Stores and Deb Shops is Officially Going Out of Business

Macy’s has announced that it will close 14 stores as part of a restructuring move to focus more on online sales. According to the official press release from the retailer, they want to “evolve its business model and invest in continued growth opportunities as consumers change the way they shop“.

According to Macy’s, the locations that are closing will do so in early spring. Final clearance sales have already begun at these locations.

Deb Shops, an affordable junior and plus size retailer that offers clothing, footwear and accessories online and in-stores, is going out of business.

The Philadelphia-based retailer, which has been in business since 1932, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early December 2014. Their website has been taken down and all final sales are happening within their stores. There are 287 Deb Shops locations in 42 states.

According to the official press release from The Gordon Brothers Group:

“Store closing sales will begin on January 9th and will involve discounts of 30-50% on all Junior and Plus Size apparel, including tops, sweaters, jeans, pants, dresses, activewear, outwear, and lingerie. Store furniture, fixtures, and equipment will also be for sale.”

“Store locations will remain open until all merchandise has been sold.”

Deb Shops gift cards will be honored through March 8th.
