Finding a great fitting pair of jeans is a challenge for most women, regardless of size. Now imagine being plus size and pregnant… Looking for great plus size maternity denim might feel like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Most maternity companies only go up to a size 3X so plus pregnant moms have to get crafty when shopping. That means looking outside of the normal maternity stores and seeing what fits on all fronts. Finding loose-fitting clothing is key and that can be done via regular plus size clothing.
Here’s 7 brands worthy of checking out for plus size denim, some are maternity and some not:
#1: Catherines
Catherines offers up to a size 5X — 34W and their new denim collection for Fall just launched on their website. Most of their jeans offer an elastic waist and stretch throughout the leg. And they offer jeans in petite sizing, too!

They offer up to size 20 in a few styles and Gap is known for their long-lasting denim that is comfortable and well worth purchasing. They also offer different panel styles from demi to full.

This retailer tends to fly under the radar since they are not known for carrying trendy fast fashion clothing. Their customer is more classic and sophisticated. While you may not find the hottest trends here, they do have some amazing basics and offer up to a size 38W!!! Some of their denim styles have a comfort waist and look stylish when paired with a great top and shoes.

Looking for affordable maternity denim? Walmart is the place to check out. Many of the styles are under $20 and come in stylish washes and silhouettes. We even found one that was on sale for $8. Their denim runs in sizes 1X to 3X.

Plus size maternity fashion is such an under-served market so we were so overjoyed when we heard that UK plus size fashion retailer Yours Clothing recently launched a new maternity line called “Bump It Maternity”.
With stylish plus size maternity fashion being so hard to find, many women are forced to wear regular plus clothing and simply size up. But that does not eliminate the issue because what about those women who still have fit issues after sizing up? Wearing leggings and baggy tops for nine months is not the answer. Pregnant plus women want to look stylish, too.
