Valentine’s Day is almost upon us and that day is not just for couples. It’s a day of love where you can celebrate yourself and all your sexiness. You should love yourself 365 days a year but Valentine’s Day can serve as a day to either remind yourself how important self-love is or have it be a special day where you do something for yourself.

Whether it’s buying yourself some sexy lingerie or taking a Boudoir photo shoot, feeling sexy is part of loving yourself, flaws and all. You can be sexy at any size because it is a state of mind. Your body, your rules and your love.

We spied 7 plus size bloggers who channeled their inner sexiness recently with blog posts dedicated to proving that embracing your body and all your flaws are essential to fully loving yourself. It can be a daily struggle but as they all point out, it’s well worth it in the end. Hope you are inspired by their stories and tips…

“I don’t need to show my body in order to prove anything to anyone. What feels empowering for me may not be what empowers you, and that’s okay… I choose to show it… Not all of it, but most, because I have nothing to prove, but to myself, that I can be vulnerable, unapologetic, and not give a s**t what anyone thinks of me. This is my own personal challenge. My body, my choice.”

“As I stood there, raw and vulnerable to his gaze, I couldn’t help but think about how much of my sexual identity was attached to this personality; this mirage I had created. How could I go from a place of confidence to a place of fear in an instant? Did this mean I didn’t love myself? That the confidence that I worked so hard to build was fake? Was I a fraud? Was it because I was with a new partner? Or because the man I had loved chose another woman over me? With just the flip of a switch, I had allowed fear to corrupt my body and cripple my soul.”

“Ladies, lingerie is about YOU. It’s for YOU. It’s not for anyone else. It’s for you to feel empowered. For you to feel feminine. For you to feel powerful and beautiful, delicate and capable all at the same time.

As women and mothers and sisters and aunties and wives, we’ve all bought into this lie that we exist solely to care for others. That what we want doesn’t matter. That we don’t get to have an opinion. That we come last. And worst of all, that we don’t get to feel beautiful. Um, no!”

“Body image issues have consumed huge blocks of my life. The majority of the time, I felt like I looked so much larger than I actually was. Cue photo avoidance, and now looking back at the few photos I’m in to realize I should have felt wonderful. I’ve also spent some time on the other side of the spectrum, feeling like I looked much smaller than I actually was. When you spend so much of your life thinking about the inadequacies of your body, you long for that day when your body image and reality are completely equal.”

“Don’t wait for the perfect body, don’t wait for your wedding day. You’re gorgeous and no matter what changes your body may go through, you’ll never be as young as you are today. I did these pictures for me and the process was so empowering that I’m being vulnerable and sharing them with you. If this is something you want to do, go for it!”
