Four Canadian women who stand for body positivity and who are challenging the North American plus size industry for equal representation.

Meet Sarah, Daniela, Yolanda and Catherine – four Canadian women and models from different walks of life that have come together to create a special project entitled, Canadian Curvies.

These women united stand for body positivity and diversity, self-love and confidence with a passion for fashion. Their mission is to inspire women and young girls everywhere to love their bodies just as they are, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They believe that beauty starts from the inside, and that confidence is the most beautiful thing a woman can wear.

The desire to found Canadian Curvies spawned from the fact that the women wanted to take a more active role in the Canadian plus size community, alongside representing Canadian curvy models, as they are sorely underrepresented in North America and overshadowed by the US plus industry.

The project will officially launch on social media July 1, 2017 on Canada’s 150th birthday, with a Canadiana-inspired photoshoot by renowned photographer, Ronnie Lee shot at Woodbine beach in Toronto, Canada. As it’s officially summer, the shoot features Ashley Graham swimwear from SwimsuitsForAll and as the women wanted to demonstrate that cellulite, rolls and tummies are natural, acceptable and healthy parts of the body that shouldn’t be hidden or edited out – all of the photos from the shoot are completely unretouched. It is their hope that seeing unaltered bodies will help other women see the beauty in their own.

To support the project, we ask that you share it on social beginning July 1, 2017 where various media outlets, magazines and plus size industry groups will be spreading the word.

Where the project goes from here is infinite and the women have many plans…. you will just have to follow to stay tuned for what will come next!

During the month of July PLUS Model Magazine will be bringing closer to the Canadian Curvies with in-depth interviews and images from the campaign.
