River Island’s Plus Size Line Launches Next Week Featuring Candice Huffine

British retailer River Island announced in December 2015 that they would be launching their first ever plus size range line with 75 pieces available in UK sizes 18 to 24 (US sizes 16 to 22). Prices will range from $11 – $156 (converted from pounds).
The High Street retailer, a British favorite among many fashionistas, revealed that they would not be creating different styles for the range, called RI Plus. They would instead expand sizes on some of their most popular items including the Molly stretch skinny jean and their leather biker jackets.
River Island Marketing Director Josie Roscop told Independent House:
“We’re excited about giving great fashion to more women, we feel this is the right time for the brand to expand our size range offering. Ultimately, it’s about fashion and being inclusive.”
The launch date is almost here with RI Plus set to go live on Tuesday, March 8th. Plus supermodel Candace Huffine (Muse Models) is the face of RI Plus and she’s a great choice to front the new line as she has had her own struggles with finding clothing that fits well and working within an industry where plus sizes are not always welcome.
Huffine said in an official press release:
“The fact that River Island is extending their sizing while staying true to their brand is perfection. It’s clear they have thought about a curvy woman’s body and designed accordingly while giving her exactly what can be found on the high street at any other size. A plus size collection doesn’t need to be made totally different, it just needs to be made to fit.”
Huffine also spoke to Daily Mail about the new RI Plus styles and what were her favorites on-set:
“I was going bananas over everything during the photo shoot! The lace-up body suits and bardot dress are so hot, I also loved the printed wide leg trousers with the matching jacket. The denim and knits are amazing as well. Ok, I clearly loved everything – this is a really hard question!”
