Plus size fashion retailer Lane Bryant has tapped American fashion designer Lela Rose for their next collaboration. This is the third designer collaboration for Lane Bryant. lane bryantAccording to Women’s Wear Daily, the limited edition collection will be called Lela Rose Exclusively for Lane Bryant and is expected to hit stores next summer. The capsule collection will consist of ready-to-wear dresses that feature the designer’s signature watercolor prints, just on time for summer.

Lela Rose told WWD about her view of the plus size fashion market:

“I really love the idea of the democratization of fashion and being able to dress different people and at different price points. This is for certain, an area that has been underserved for a while. It’s not easy to buy sizes larger than a 14 or 16 in a lot of places. Hopefully, we will see more designers doing larger sizes and stores will start thinking more broadly about what size ranges they offer.”

Lane Bryant CEO Linda Heasley explained to WWD why they chose to collaborate with Lela:

“Lela is so gifted and we love what she does with dresses. She really is the master of the dress. We know our customer will love her clothes. She is on a short slate of designers that we would like to work with.”

Lela Rose Exclusively for Lane Bryant will be sold online and in select stores. Also, two pieces from the collection will be sold in all 500 Lane Bryant stores. Linda Heasley explained that this move to offer two pieces in every store is so that the collection is viewed as “special” and not available in too many places.

Lela Rose is known for adding her whimsical touch to classic silhouettes as well as her love for color and little details.

According to InStyle, “her limited-edition line for Lane Bryant will feature day-to-dinner frocks in vibrant colors and easy, fun styles.”
