The 40+ Blogger Series: Veronica of Cid Style File

If you’re 40 or older, you have had a front seat to the evolution of plus size fashion in the last few decades.

When I hear 20-something year-old’s complain about how limited plus size fashion is, I always tell them, “You have no idea. What’s available now is leaps and bounds from where we used to be.

Add being over a size 24 to that and you really know the struggle that we had to endure in the 70’s and 80’s.

With that said, we thought it would be interesting, as well as insightful, to spotlight 12 plus size fashion bloggers over 40 in a weekly series, chatting with them about their style, favorite trends and how their fashion choices have evolved over the years.

This week, the 40+ Blogger Series features the amazing Veronica of Cid Style Filea veteran in the plus size industry who blogs about fashion, beauty and lifestyle topics.16145258_10212077465312807_212439695_o

How would you describe your style right now in one sentence? Casual chic with touches of boho mixed in with some edge.

What were your favorite brands and trends when you were in your 20’s?

I loved flannels and the grunge look. Guess jeans were my fave, but they didn’t make them in plus size. 🙁

What are your favorite brands and trends now?

I shop all over the place and wear many brands. Currently, I am loving City Chic, Lucky Brand and Old Navy. As far as trends, I like to stick with classics and just add a few trendy pieces each season.16145201_10212077468072876_1523004279_o

How has your style changed over the years? Did your body image affect the way you dressed?

Overall, my styles haven’t changed dramatically from my younger years. What has changed is my attitude and confidence to wear certain styles I didn’t wear before.

What advice would you offer your younger self when it comes to fashion and body positivity?

I would tell my younger self to have fun with fashion and not worry so much about how other people view you. I would tell my younger self to be happy with my body and how I look, because you will never be as young and beautiful as you are in this moment.

What trends are you happy to see return this fall and winter?

I am happy to see some of the 90’s styles make a comeback. Mostly because as a teen in the early 90’s, many of the trends were not available in plus size. Now I can wear almost any trend or style and buy it in my size!

I was also happy to see lots of velvet this fall. Although I didn’t jump on this trend, I did love to wear velvet when I was younger.16145361_10212077466872846_1941002939_o

Who are some of your style inspirations in the blogger world?

Kimoorella.com is a blogger I discovered recently. I love her clean lines with edgy details. I also like Take.Dos. She’s a new blogger who has great style and is a girl after my own heart… bargain shopping!

What trends are you looking forward to this spring?

I hate to admit this, but I have no clue what trends are coming for spring. Honestly, my style has always been more about what I love than what’s on trend. However for spring, I love to wear cute jeans and comfy tees with sneakers. I also love dresses with prints such as florals and of course, sandals.preppy-style-fab-40s-october-

What are your plans for the blog in 2017?

I don’t really have any plans yet for my blog, but I’d like to venture into possibly launching an online shop. And after 20 years, I would also love to finally start my career as a stylist! I have wanted to work as a stylist since I was in high school.
