Univision Aims to Be More Inclusive With The Latest Season of Nuestra Belleza Latina

“Without sizes, without limits, and with no excuses.”

That’s the new tagline of Season 11 of Univision’s uber popular reality modeling competition Nuestra Belleza Latina, which has taken a new turn in its qualifications to be a contestant.

The show, which consists of weekly challenges and eliminations in a pageant format, in front of a live audience, has now opened the competition to women of all ages, sizes, and skin tones.

This has burst open the door for women who are older that 28 to take part in the competition as well as plus size women. YES!

This is major as the winner will have the opportunity to become an on-air talent for Univision and launch a career in broadcasting.

As we checked out the lineup of contestants, we were in awe of the diverse line-up, especially in skin tones. With colorism still playing a big part in the Latin community, it is refreshing to see different shades of Latina women represented in a major competition on TV.

Plus size model Denise Bidot, who is half Puerto Rican, is a judge and director of NBL University, where she offers the models advice and support.

Plus size Puerto Rican fashion icon and the content creator behind Su-style, Suzanne Ujaque, has also been doing weekly appearances on Univision, to talk show previews, chat about show eliminations, the competition and also have interviews with contestants and others from the show.

We’re so excited at the size and age inclusions that Nuestra Belleza Latina and Univision have made. We hope this is just the kickoff to more inclusion overall.

The show is down to their final 6 contestants — you can check out new episodes on Sundays at 8pm/7c on Univision. Click here to read more about the show on Univision’s official website.
