Here are 12 plus size indie designers we personally love that we will be shopping this holiday season to prepare to slay in 2020, so watch out!
#1: Tamara Malas
With features in Nylon, Glamour and Fashionista.com, 2019 has been Malas’ year! She is on the rise at a time where luxury plus size fashion is rapidly growing and her luxury high-end pieces are quirky, fun and fashion-forward. That sets her apart and has quickly made her brand a favorite among plus-size fashionistas. Her goal with every collection is to offer unique-statement separates that go way beyond basic styles.

#2: Hannah Caroline Couture
Designer Hannah Nodskov has tapped into an underserved market with her custom wedding gowns, prom dresses, and formalwear for women of all sizes, especially black wedding dresses and bridal jumpsuits. #3: 2B (Continued) Denim Boutique

Owner and designer Conchita E. Jamison believes in style, comfort and the perfect fit. That’s how 2B (Continued) was born. Jamison is tapping into a popular market where there are major fit issues… denim. Her custom denim business has now evolved into offering dresses, tees, outerwear, skirts and kids clothing, made with the same principles and fit goals. Atlanta-based designer A’Shontay Hubbard is the brains and talent behind Christian Omeshun, who set out to create a line that would offer modern, sophisticated styles to plus size women, which she felt were needed in the fashion industry. Hubbard offers 100% customization on all her garments because she’s passionate about catering to all women, including those who are tall or petite. Her goal is to offer timeless pieces that are showstoppers. She not only offers ready-to-wear but also bridal and prom.

Courtney Noelle is all about self-empowerment and confidence. She is known for her statement mermaid pieces and her recent ‘Uncomfortable’ collection took her talents to new levels with sexy, glam pieces that are stunning and made so well. Designer Courtney Smith designs sophisticated pieces with a funky edge that are unique and guaranteed to have you slaying all year long in 2020.

Blogger Elann Zelie launched Zelie for She in Fall 2012 and seven years later, her brand has evolved into this popular and incredible brand that offers up unique, statement-making pieces for plus size women who yearn for a boho-luxe feel. And right now, everything is on sale, so stock up for the holidays and beyond!

Atlanta-based plus size indie designer Jasmine Elder is all about creating dramatic, bold, stylish pieces that are truly statements. Her high waist slouch pants put her on the radar of many fashionistas and she hasn’t looked back since. That was 10 years ago! #8: Proud Mary Fashion
Los Angeles-based plus size indie designer Jessica Hinkle decided to not only create her own line but also open a storefront where she can also offer vintage pieces along with her original clothing and accessories. She caters to that customer who seeks vintage pieces and statement clothing. Most notably, her 2 Fat 2 Furious tee and her FAT tee are her best-sellers, helping plus size fashionistas take back the word and make it a positive descriptor, instead of a negative connotation.

With a tagline “Too much of a good thing is beautiful”, plus size indie designer Jen Wilder is making caftans the central focus of her new line, with designs that are statement-making, luxe and simply, so much fun! She offers caftans in different lengths, eye-catching colors and beautiful fabrics. Wilder also runs the popular resale and vintage store The Plus Bus in LA that also sells indie designer pieces.

#10: Cutting Shapes Club
When Australian plus size alternative fashion blogger Kobi Jae of Horror Kitsch Bitch launched her new dress line Cutting Shapes Club, her mission was to provide unique prints created by indie artists in an effortless dress silhouette, up to size 6X, because as she states, “You can sit with us.”. She currently has 5 dresses on her site, all in fun, quirky prints including one that features the face of iconic drag queen Divine (shown above) and one that pays homage to blogger Margot Meanie. There’s even a Riots Not Diets dress!

Mexican plus size indie designer Melina Alarconi created her brand to empower plus size women to embrace their own inner queen and know that beauty comes in ALL sizes. Using luxe fabrics in vibrant, eye-catching colors and paying attention to fit details make Generose a brand to watch in 2020. The luxe, fashion-forward designs showcase the brand, whose name was inspired by the feminine plural form of the word “Generoso”, which means well-born, noble, superior and excellent.

#12: Rene’ Tyler Designs
Not only does designer Angela Rene’ use her brand to make all women feel beautiful and stylish but she has also turned this into a family business where her son Chase is the Creative Director of the brand. They have since opened a boutique in the famed Grand Canal Shoppes at The Palazzo, making it the only plus-size boutique on the Las Vegas Strip. She doesn’t care if you’re a celebrity or an everyday woman, she treats all her customers like queens, dressing them to the nines, whether it’s ready-to-wear pieces or that gown to wear on New Year’s Eve.
