Plus Size International Fashion News: All Sizes On One Catwalk at the Kurvenrausch Plus Size Fashion Show

The Kurvenrausch Plus Size Fashion Show was held in Hamburg, Germany on September 14, 2013. This show is the brainchild of German makeup artist Tanja Marfo (seen above, on the right).

After Tanja attended Full Figured Fashion Week this year, she was inspired by the size diversity of models on the runway. After her first trade show in Berlin in July and seeing non-plus models on the runway there, she became inspired to do her own plus size fashion runway show in Germany. And that was how the Kurvenrausch Fashion Show became a reality.

Tanja tells us:

“The whole event was planned within 3 months! I talked to many companies, went to several showrooms and finally, a fan of my Facebook page introduced me and my idea to the Hamburg Mozartsäle, a wonderful and unique location in the middle of the city. From there, I began to plan and organize everything on my own. I did a casting to find models and talked as well to a model agency, to see if they would support us with some of their models. I wanted to have different sizes on the catwalk and not only small plus sizes.”

Tanja’s hard work paid off. The show was a success. On the day of the show, many people volunteered and helped backstage. Press and media showed up in full force. German TV even promoted the show. International plus model and photographer Velvet D’amour came from France to be the special guest and support the show.

Velvet even offered models a casting opportunity to win a photoshoot with her for her magazine Volup2 Mag. The winners were announced at the show.

Tanja was so overwhelmed and humbled by the experience:

“I have never experienced so much support and help like we had on the fashion show. We did it together and showed everybody that women of all ages and sizes belong on the catwalk. I am proud to say that I organized the biggest and real plus size fashion show in Germany.”

The designers that showcased their designs at the Kurvenrausch Fashion Show were:

2M
Junarose
Ulla Popken
King Size Queens by Tine Wittler
Sheego

Amiiee
Miss Molly Lingerie

We admire and applaud Tanja for taking an idea and never giving up. She is proof that if you are determined to make your dream come true and don’t give up, it will become a reality.

“FFFWeek did really inspire me and I was lucky to find so much support within the plus size community. I just followed my dream and hoped it would work out. Even two of the designers I met in New York came to my show to showcase their collections.”

We are inspired and hope that there will be many more plus size fashions shows such as hers where there are all sizes on one runway.
