Debórah Bond Returns to DC GIRLS Empowerment Seminar Taking Place This Weekend

Recording Artist Debórah Bond and Program In The Loop Partner to Empower Girls in Southeast D.C.

Washington, D.C. — After a successful presentation and speech last year, Debórah Bond is excited return to the 2nd Annual DC GIRLS Empowerment Seminar: Empower YOU.

The seminar will focus on four points: YOU are enough, YOU are powerful, YOU are smart, and YOU are the best you. Girls aged 12-17 will hear Bond speak and will attend fellow returning presenter Tuwanda Jackson’s “Literally Speaking” session, where they will learn verbal and non-verbal communication tools. The girls will also attend workshops training them in STEM, media, writing, health and fitness.

“I know in my heart that God wants me to be a servant of my community. I desire to go beyond just being a performing artist and touching people through my music, said Bond. “I want to share my story and experiences in hope to inspire and encourage people… young people in particular.”

Debórah Bond and her band, Third Logic, have consistently performed as an act under her name at almost every venue in the District area for more than ten years. Madam Palindrome, their third release, was No. 1 on the “UK Soul Chart” for three consecutive weeks, and was called one of the “best soul albums of 2011” by Chris Wells of Echoes magazine.

“God is opening the doors and allowing me to walk through and do His work in this way! I’m excited to speak to the girls and help empower them,” said Bond.

The DC GIRLS Empowerment Seminar will take place Sat., July 19 at 10 a.m. at Richard Wright Public Charter School, and is open to girls ages 12-17, along with their parent/guardian(s).
