British celebrity and designer Gemma Collins announced earlier this year that she inked a deal with plus size fashion retailer Evans to sell her clothing collection on their website and in stores. The designer hosted an in-store event in Manchester at the Evans Arndale store this week where she met fans and showed off her designs.
Collins has made no secret that she is proud of her curves and hopes her clothing can inspire other plus size women to embrace their curves. She is hopeful that this partnertship with Evans will help in that mission:
“Evans approached me and do you know what, I thought it would be such an amazing opportunity to reach out to all women, and bring sexy back to Evans. My dresses are for women young and old who want to dress really well, and that’s not always easy to do on the high street if you’re a plus sized girl.”
The designer also told Manchester Evening News that she hopes this Evans opportunity will open more doors for her to make her clothing available in more High Street stores and reach more plus size women. She is passionate about spreading the message that beauty knows no size.
“For me it’s not about dropping loads of weight, it’s about accentuating what you’ve got and that’s what I try and encourage other women to do – be body confident. I don’t believe in surgery or botox or anything like that, and I only promote what I believe in. I’m coming up for 35 now, I can’t see me being a size 10 anytime soon and I love who I am, I’m proud of my curves.”
Collins’ new collection at Evans features her signature bodycon dresses, florals and vibrant colors.
