What have been your favorite modeling experiences so far?

Aside from the backstage laughs, talks, and fun that I share with my model sisters and being able to create art in front of the camera, the best experiences of all have come from the influential people that I’ve crossed paths along my journey. Of course walking a runway and being in front of the camera are fun, but being able to make connections is priceless. I’ve had the privilege of gaining a great deal of knowledge and advice from these connections I’ve made. Before modeling, the industry seemed intimidating, but it isn’t so scary once you have some great people in your corner who will be real with you but at the same time uplift and motivate you. 3-Plus Model Morgan Whitney

What is your personal fashion aesthetic?

It changes depending on my mood; it could be class with a bit of edge or earthy-nature girl-flower child – lol. I have way too many black clothes but at the same time I love pops of color, especially blue. I also love thrifting and finding old things to revamp them, making them new again.

If you were not modeling, what field would you be working in?

I wouldn’t have drifted too far from the fashion industry; I would have been a fashion designer. Before graduating high school, I gave myself the options to either attend Laboratory Institute of Merchandising or business school, and I chose business. During my college career, I ended up falling in love with marketing and grew a more prominent intrest in modeling, so I don’t regret that decision because marketing can be applied no matter the profession. I do plan on diving back into fashion design when the time is right though.

What do you like to do on your off time?

I’m pretty simple; I love spending time with friends and family, laughing, and just creating memorable experiences. I like food (a lot – lol) so I love trying out new recipes, especially if I can find a twist on a healthy recipe. Other times I might be practicing shooting on my camera from time to time.

Has there been someone in your life that has influenced you, in fashion or otherwise?

Most definitely, there are many people in the industry who I look up to and who have helped shape my career, but someone who helped shape the person that I have become is Maxine Olivia, my mommy. Besides showering my sister and I with love, she has had a strong influence on me with her drive, selflessness, uplifting spirit, and so much more. I love her with all my heart and I’m so grateful that she’s my mommy. I don’t know what I would do without her. She is my ultimate support system.

What is your advice to aspiring models?

You think, therefore you are. In other words, never count yourself out because your goals seem out of reach. If you doubt yourself in anything that you do, your biggest obstical can be yourself. Having great photos and a great walk can get you far, but a positive mindset will get you even further. All of us have experienced rejection, but I believe that our reaction to those “no’s” are what really defines us. Be graceful, and if you are receiving critique, say thank you and begin to apply yourself. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions!
