Meet The Plus Size Athlete on The Latest Cover of Women’s Running Magazine

Mirna Valerio is proof that anything is possible.

She’s not only an educator, writer and new author but she is an athlete that’s plus size. And she is on the cover of the September issue of Women’s Running Magazine.

The magazine announced its cover girl yesterday on social media, calling her an ultrarunner and as you can see on the cover, they also call her “relentlessly inspiring”.

Valerio is the latest plus size athlete to show that you don’t have to be a size 0 to be active, to run in marathons, to climb mountains and to just be free to do anything you set your mind to.

It’s women like her and Louise Green, Jessamyn Stanley, Valerie Sagun and countless others who are putting the spotlight on being active at any size, defying the stereotypes that being fat or plus size means you are lazy.

If Valerio looks familiar to you, it could be because you may have seen her featured on Lane Bryant’s website and social media. She’s their featured athlete on their Livi 360 spotlight for the month.

This issue of Women’s Running Magazine is dedicated to the great outdoors and the headline “Ditch The Gym” speaks volumes. What a great way to inspire everyone to get out there, be active and enjoy the outdoors. All it starts with is one step.

The issue is on newsstands now. Congrats Mirna! You are inspiring so many people to change their lives.
