All About Your Skin Care Routine

Your skin, it’s one of the things you cannot hide – everybody sees it.

It’s the most basic foundation of health and beauty. If you think about it, your skin is the window to everything going on underneath. Healthy skin is indicative of optimal internal health. So it’s crucial that you take proper care of your skin.

The first step is knowing your skin personally and closely because it is as unique as you. Do you have sensitive skin or a robust skin? Do you have dry skin or oily skin? These are the questions you need to answer when building your own personal skin care routine.

Authority Reports is a forum dedicated to helping people determine the best products for the skin, as well as many other health matters. Check it out for more information.

1.  Keep It Clean

The most important step in keeping your skin healthy is cleansing it. It helps to prevent infections which could damage your skin, and it gets rid of excess oils, which gives skin an excessively shiny appearance and predisposes it to blackheads.

Understanding your skin is very important when choosing the right cleanser and how often to use it. For example, oily skin needs to be cleaned more often, up to twice a day whereas dry skin only needs to be cleaned once a day.

It is also important not to over cleanse your skin, as this could dry it out and predispose it to other kinds of blemishes. Your skin should feel relaxed and soft, not tight and squeaky, after being cleansed. This means that enough oils are being left behind to help the skin function optimally.

2.  Anti-Aging Serums

Wrinkles are an unfortunate reality of life. They are the signs of exposure to environmental damage and stress. Generally, the more stressed your skin is the more likely it is to form wrinkles.

But excessive wrinkles do not have to be a permanent feature of your skin. Using the right anti-aging serums can significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles and leave the skin looking more youthful.

Wrinkles are caused by a loss of collagen, the structural protein responsible for the firmness of skin. When collagen is lost in certain parts of the skin, it becomes more fragile, thin, and uneven and forms grooves in the skin which become wrinkles. So an important feature of anti-aging serums is that they increase collagen production, to even out the skin surface and get rid of wrinkles.

3.  Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

Another very important feature of healthy skin is that it is hydrated. Skin, like any other tissue in the body, is made up of different kinds of cells. Cells need a lot of water to survive. It’s no coincidence that the body is sixty to seventy percent water. Unlike other tissues, the skin is a major site for water exchange between the body and the environment. This means that it is one of the first places to lose water when you are dehydrated. Dehydrated cells cannot function properly,  and so the integrity of your skin reduces if it is not properly moisturized.

Even oily skin needs a moisturizer. Again knowing your skin is very important because dry skin prefers cream-based moisturizers while oily skin prefers gel based. Make sure to apply the moisturizer after anti-aging serums for maximum absorption of each.

4.  Protect It From The Sun

One of the major culprits of accelerated aging of the skin is the sun. The sun is important for helping the body activate vitamin D, but too much of it can cause quite a bit of damage. The sun also causes the generation of free radicals in the skin which then damage the skin cells and cause them to age at an accelerated rate. It can also predispose the skin to cancer. Less severely though, it causes wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

It is easy to protect the skin from this sort of damage by applying a product with a sun protection factor within it. These products scatter the radiation from the sun or dissipate heat so that it generates much less free radicals. All good skin care products also come with antioxidants in them which neutralizes free radicals and prevent them from causing damage.

So choose your skin products wisely as they can make the world of difference for your skin. Treat your skin well and it will return the favor, giving you a wonderful appearance that everyone will be able to see.
