Editor’s note: The term “real women” used in this article is meant to describe women who are unsigned non-professional models who are PMM readers. In our opinion, ALL women are real, no matter what your size, shape, professional or background.
Our latest Real Women/Real Model series will be featured in our March 2015 issue, launching March 1st. In this editorial, we partnered with plus size fashion retailer Always For Me for a Real Women/Real Adventure photoshoot, featuring their stylish and flattering swimwear.
The five lucky winners chosen come from various backgrounds and represent strength, confidence and size diversity. We truly loved shooting these amazing women, who had fun in front of the camera and exuded body confidence and pride.
Here’s some behind-the-scenes images from the shoot:
We cannot wait for our readers to see this latest “Real Women, Real Model” series and we look forward to featuring more PMM readers in upcoming series. Here’s the official press release, which gives more information on the shoot and the mission of the series:
“Real Women” Include Aspiring Criminal Psychologist, Artist, Opera Singer & Recent Graduate with Physics Degree
New York, New York (PRWEB) February 27, 2015
We cheered when Sports Illustrated featured two plus-size models in its annual swimsuit issue. After all, more than 67 percent of women in the United States wear a size 14 or larger. Seeing images of women in magazines that reflect our size-diverse society is critical.
But one swimsuit issue is not enough. That’s why PLUS Model Magazine (PMM) and Always For Me, the trusted online retailer of plus-size swimwear, active wear, and lingerie, partnered to search for “Real Women” to feature in PMM’s March issue. The March issue of PLUS Model Magazine will be available online on March 1, 2015.
A recent college graduate with a degree in physics, an aspiring criminal psychologist, an artist, and an opera singer are among the “Real Women” who were photographed and will be featured in the PMM March issue. (Please note these are “Real Women” because they are unsigned, nonprofessional models. Certainly, women of all sizes are “real.”)
“The ‘Real Women’ campaign was born out of our desire to show realistic body images in a fashion editorial. It was also an important way to include our readers, who want to see bodies of different sizes represented in media,” said Madeline Jones, Editor-in-Chief of PLUS Model Magazine.
“It was a thrill to work with such an adventurous, confident and gloriously diverse group of women,” said Jeanne Grasso, Director of Marketing at Always for Me. “And we are delighted to be part of an editorial that reflects who our customers actually are.”
PLUS Model Magazine inspires the style-savvy, fashion-forward, full-figured woman to embrace her curves.
