You’ll be seeing a new face on Torrid’s website and marketing campaigns.
Today, the plus size fashion retailer announced the winner of their third annual model search for the 2018 Face of Torrid.
After discovering Lyanna Lynette through their 2016 model search and Maria Gimena via their 2017 model search, 20-year old Julia Rose Miller from Austin, Texas has been announced as the winner of the 2018 model search. You can learn more about her here.
The six-month long competition included Miller and the other top 9 finalists walking the runway at New York Fashion Week in Fall 2017, which then led to a final four being chosen. Miller was selected from a diverse pool of over 15,000 women from across the U.S. and Canada.
Miller will be partnering with the brand to establish an anti-bullying platform for the Torrid Foundation, which is a cause very near to her heart. She hopes to leverage this opportunity to share her experience with bullying and to help inspire women everywhere to realize they are beautiful.
She’ll also receive a Torrid modeling contract and wardrobe. She will host Torrid store openings and events, star in seasonal fashion campaigns and appear on the brand’s social media channels throughout the year.
She shared in an official statement how being a Torrid customer helped her be more confident:
“To see women who looked like me on the walls and in the windows shocked me. I was bullied a lot for my appearance, which made me feel powerless, but seeing how Torrid portrayed women of all sizes gave me confidence. I hope to use this opportunity, with the help of Torrid Foundation, as a platform to inspire other women who went through the same thing as me, to show them that being a size-14 girl is okay — matter of fact, it’s beautiful.”
Torrid President Liz Muñoz expressed how happy the brand is with having Miller as the 2018 Face:
“From thousands of applicants, America chose Julia Rose and we couldn’t be happier. She embodies everything about Torrid. She’s fearlessly confident, loves fashion and, of course, she’s drop-dead gorgeous. Julia Rose is exactly the kind of woman we celebrate every day at Torrid with fabulous-fitting fashion that makes her look and feel amazing. We’re thrilled to have her represent our brand as the 2018 Face of Torrid.”
Her debut campaign for Torrid will be the Spring II Collection, featuring looks straight from the brand’s New York Fashion Week runway show. These styles represent key trends for the upcoming season, including bold florals and romantic silhouettes, with elevated details like hand embroidery and beaded elements.
