6 Ways to Get to Know Yourself Better

We spend a lot of time focusing on our career, our families, and our relationships. But do we spend enough time learning more about ourselves

Do you know how you have changed a year ago? Three years ago? If you haven’t asked the question. Now is the perfect time to think about you and how you can get to know yourself better.

#1 Me Time

One of the many reasons, I wanted to move to Arizona, was the bigger house my hubby and I were moving into. Why? I was going to create an intentional space for myself. I was going to have my own little art studio. Finally, I was going to have a space where I could color, paint, draw, doodle, and create. This is a part of the “Me Time” that I need. So, when people ask me how life in Arizona is, I always say AMAZING. Prioritizing my time to create and do what I love every day, is how I can learn more about myself as a creative and content creator.

#2 Expand Your Comfort Zone

A lot of people say you need to get out of your comfort zone. But really, we need to learn to expand our comfort zone each year. The more you push yourself to try new things, the more you learn about yourself and the life you want for yourself. What is one thing you can do this week to expand your comfort zone?

#3 Networking Queen

If you know me, or follow my blog, you know how much I love networking. I believe networking is a game changer and a live saver. One of the best ways to get know more about yourself, involves speaking with others. Why? You will learn how others live, what they are reading, and what is important to them. This will force you to think about how you feel about the newfound knowledge and whether you want to incorporate something new in your life. Thus, networking is a win, win.

#4 Consume Something New

We live in such a content rich world. Every day there are new blogs, podcasts, audiobooks, articles, and magazines to consume. More and more people are getting overwhelmed by the growing content they have access to. This isn’t a bad thing. In fact, I believe it is a very good thing. The more content out there, the more knowledge and insight you can learn and apply to your life. When you read an article, review a newsletter, watch a video, listen to a podcast or audiobook that makes you challenge something going on in your life; this is an important moment in your life. Having an a ha momentis a big part of how to progress and evolve in your life.

#5 Travel Now (Not Later)

How many places have you traveled to this year? If you haven’t traveled away from home, you are missing out on:

  • Meeting and networking with new people
  • Experiencing new environments
  • Tasting new foods and treats
  • Creating time for clarity
  • Exploring career opportunities
  • Enjoying time to relax and unwind

Can you afford to delay travel plans? I don’t think so. Summer is far from over. Book a weekend trip and take some time to get away so you can enhance your life in ways you can’t even imagine.

#6 Read Every Day

Are you an avid reader? Do you wish you would read more books? What is standing in your way? YOU. You are in control of your schedule. Which means, you dictate whether you read one book or a hundred books this year. Reading is quintessential for personal and professional development. With the invention of audio books and eBooks, there is no excuse not to read every day. The more you read the more you gain insight about yourself, others and who you want to be in the future. You owe it to yourself to read every single day…no matter what!
