Naomi Watanabe Continues To Prove That Visibly Plus Models Can Slay Beauty Campaigns

The plus size star is back with a second collaboration with Tokyo-based makeup brand Shu Uemura.

Watanabe, who is also known as “the Japanese Beyoncé“, has an impressive resume that includes being an actress, comedian, and fashion designer. The Japanese powerhouse is proof that beauty campaigns can cast models that are not a size 4.

In her second collaboration with Shu Uemura, Watanabe is simply pure slayage as the face of the campaign.

Basically, she is giving off glam goddess vibes and we are here for it.

The only downside to this new collaboration is that it’s only available in Japan. <insert devastated face here>

We’re sure many beauty enthusiasts in the US would be buying this collection in droves, us included.

The Naomi for Shu Uemura collection features four unique shades that Watanabe hand-picked herself. It’s also aptly titled “Now Me“.

The campaign images show Watanabe in full-on glam, pushing against a sheet of transparent plexiglass with products on her body to create imagery where the makeup appears embedded in her body.

Watanabe’s first collaboration with the beauty brand, a collection titled Power of Kiss, launched last summer and sparked conversations about the definition of beauty.

Watanabe has always pushed the envelope when it comes to challenging the unattainable beauty ideals that society places on women.

With an audience of almost 11 million followers on her social media channels, she uses her platform to also disrupt the stereotypes of Japanese women.

She uses not only her acting and comedian talents to dispel those stereotypes but also puts her body on display through modeling in amazing editorial content.

We love that she is front and center in the beauty industry and can’t wait to see what’s next for Watanabe.
