hair care tips

If you have curly hair, you already know that the struggle is real when it comes to hair care and finding the best products to keep your curls frizz-free and healthy. We reached out to five curly-haired bloggers whose hair always looks on point and asked them for their personal hair care tips and products they love.

#1: Sandra from La Pecosa Preciosa:

Curly Hair Beauty Tip: Stop using shampoo to wash your hair and start using a co-wash instead. Co-washes do exactly what shampoo does but doesn’t strip your hair of all its natural oils and moisture.

Favorite Hair Product: I love anything from Shea Moisture. Their Coconut & Hibiscus line is great! My current favorite is their Curl Enhancing Smoothie. It smells amazing and leaves your curls defined and frizz free.

#2: Hailey from Discourse of a Divine Diva:

Curly Hair Beauty Tip: Keep your hair as hydrated as possible. Use hydrating shampoos and conditioners, deep condition once every 1-2 weeks, and use hydrating products that help fight frizz.

Favorite Hair Product: Macadamia Healing Oil Spray is a fine mist of nourishing hair oil that isn’t heavy or greasy. It fights frizz, adds shine, and contains UV protection. Plus, it smells fantastic! I have seen such a difference in my curls and overall health of my hair since I started using this product.

Curly Hair Beauty Tip: Don’t be afraid to experiment. It took me several years to find the right combination of products that works best for my curls. When I was younger, I only used products that were cheaper and not made for curls. Try different products and play with them up until you find the right combination!

Favorite Hair Product: Recently, I discovered curl creams. After using gels and mousses for years, curl creams saved my curls. I have been using Cantu Coconut Curl Cream for about a year now and also added L’Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Extraordinary Oil and created my own hair cocktail. Which I learned from reading natural hair blogs!

Curly Hair Beauty Tip: I try to stay away from any kind of heat. Example: using a hair dryer.

Favorite Hair Product: Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle is one of my absolute favorite products. It keeps my hair moisturized and soft.

#5: Ada from Gypsy in the City:

Curly Hair Beauty Tip: Try to air dry your curls as much as possible and avoid the diffuser. Air drying gives you less frizz, ultimately preserving your style longer. Diffusing often gives you an inevitable halo of frizz and shortens the length of your style.

Favorite Hair Product: I love Shea Moisture’s Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie. It’s affordable, has great ingredients, and always makes my curls look great!
